Chicago in 1984 at UNO Lakefront arena. They were touring for Chicago 17. Had floor seats and was 14. Me and a few friends went, and we ended up being within ten feet of our Gym Teacher who we disliked who was there on a date. He was unhappy to see us...

First concert was that I remember going to was Charlie Rich at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in early 70's. Love some Charlie Rich!

First rock concert I think I went to was in early 80's when I was in middle school. Went with couple friends to see Chicago and Cheap Trick!

I think it was late 93...could be wrong though. Nirvana played UNO a couple of months after them.

Pearl Jam played three sold out shows...Urge Overkill opened for them.

Mrs. Rabbit saw that.

My first was Tommy James and the Shondells at Independence Hall. Classic.

I can see I'm the old guy on this thread. I still have the poster advertising the concert. It is framed and in my office. Steppenwolf at Hirsch Colisium in Shreveport....1969. Tickets were $3.50 in advance or a rediculous $4.50 at the door.

BTW..John Kay and Steppenwolf sound just as good, if not better, to these ears as they did in 1969 so don't think your musical taste is going to mellow out just because you become an old fart.

ZZ Top and Wet Willie in about 1974. I think it was at Hirsch Coliseum also. It was somewhere in Shreveport.

ZZ top
Summer between junior and senior year in high school.
Hot girlfriend.
In the theater, not the arena, at the Monroe Civic Center.
Sunday afternoon show before they hit the big time.
arse kicking music, small setting, was probably the most fun I ever had at a concert.

I guess I'm the third one in this thread who's first concert was Bon Jovi opening for Ratt. It was at the Frank Erwin Center, Austin, 1985.

Bon Jovi really sold it, on half the stage that Ratt had available to them. Ratt just kinda phoned it in, but loudly.

Hootie and the Blowfish shortly after

Beach Boys shortly after

Santana shortly after

This was like a 4 month span when I was 10 years old. ABB was first, the others may have been a different order.
