What is the difference between a chip shop and a pitch shot?

I am getting a difference of opinions from colleagues and from Google.

IMO, its about how far you bring the club back.
If I'm over 30-40%, it's most likely a pitch shot.

A pitch shot is more of a lob that has more pitch. Like a popup in baseball. A chip is more like a line drive.
I'm probably wrong though

Chip - ball spends more time on the ground than in the air
Pitch - balls spends more time in the air than on the ground
To me a pitch is more like a mini swing.

Eh. Generally, I would say that's usually right, but not what defines a chip/pitch. You can lob some chips up in the air. Though most times a chip will stay low and run more.

Yeah I figured a chip you want to roll but a pitch sticks.

It's all good. Like I said, for the most part, thats what chips/pitches do, just there are exceptions to that.

IMO a pitch is further away... chipping takes place on the fringe or a the base of the green.

Your question has pretty much been answered in the responses so far. The only thing I would add is on a chip shot, you want to get it on the ground and running as quick as you can. On a pitch shot you factor everything and determine where you want the ball to land on the green, run out, and disappear into the hole.
Another question is what's the difference, if any, between a pitch and a lob?

I would say a lob is a type of pitch shot if that makes sense.
Though a flop is another beast.

I forgot about flop.
In my mind a flop and lob would be pretty much the same. Get it up, straight down, and stop.

A lob is a pitch shot you purposely hit a little higher to make it sure it lands softly. Most of the time it involves opening up the club face at least slightly to increase the loft of the club

I agree with this.
Flop is straight up and down. I only pull it out if I need to carry a bunker or not a lot of green to work with. It's just not a consistent shot for me. I can get it up there, just hard to control the distance.

1/3rd in the air, 2/3rd rollout vs. 2/3rd in the air, 1/3rd rollout

A chip is basically a putt with a club other than a putter. A pitch is a shortened swing.

Paul Azinger just answered this question on the telecast about an hour ago. On a pitch shot, the club head will actually be in front of the ball after impact. On a chip, the ball stays in front of the club head the entire time.
