What if Tywin shots blanks and all the kids are trags.

That's my first crackpot theory

The hints have been there from the first book. Martin may well be sitting back reading the heated online debates and laughing his arse off at his troll work, but we're not reading something in that isn't there. The text has very deliberately and repeatedly suggested that Tyrion is a Targ. It doesn't mean that he is for certain, though.

People are searching for anything to be a clue because there has been so much time between books.

Tyrion has all the Lannister traits.

What clues are there?

Seems like the general consensus among the non-readers is that joffrey is getting killed next. It has been awhile but I don't think I was expecting Joffrey to die in the books, or at least not as early as he did.

that's exactly why i would never read those non-reader threads if i hadn't read the books. they are killing all of the suspense.

there are still incognito readers steering them towards the surprises every week. sucks for them.

That's because a lot of readers didn't put a whole lot of stock into Melisandre's claims of the red god. We saw it from Davos' doubting point of view and even Stannis didn't really believe the leeches would correlate to the actual deaths.

In the show, it's pretty hard not to recognize what's going on after the first of the 3 kings were killed. Especially when there is so much time to speculate between episodes.

That's why I wish the purple wedding would have been in this season, it would have had more of a surprise element that it will lose between seasons.

Definitely. Whereas in the show they have basically thrown in our face that what Melisandre predicts is going to happen, happens.

I'm surprised Stannis hasn't gotten talked about more in the hodor thread simply bc he has melisandre on his side who can conjure up demons and kill whomever she wants with king's blood, not to mention the blackwater debacle in which she was absent.

That gif of Ramsay is one of the best GOT ones I've ever seen.

Additionally, we saw Varys trying to bribe Shae to leave and putting a lot of emphasis on how important Tyrion is to Westeros. Could tie into where Varys' true loyalties lie.

I almost kind of felt that he was setting Tyrion up. Shae takes the jewels and money, prances around with them, and Tywin or Cersei suspect her for who she really is.

In the books, Tyrion has almost silver hair & mismatched (green/black)eyes. I think both of these are Targ traits.

Tyrion is a dwarf, he has stubby legs, a jutting forehead, mismatched eyes of green and black, and lank, white-blonde hair.

I'm not suggesting I agree with the theory, just that this is one thing that leads to people theorizing about Tyrion/Targ.

I was really hoping Shae would have taken the Varys deal last night.

Tyrion hair is white blonde, Targs have silver hair.

Tyrion has one green and one black eye (the mismatched eyes are more examples of his monstrous appearance), Targs have purple eyes.

Tyrion may be resistant to disease like some Targs. ex: he doesn't catch greyscale but Griff does in the same water

I think the show is easier to theorize to. There is not a lot of detail that has to be read and the POV's are closer together. Subtle hints are harder to see in books rather than shows. I know all readers will accidently skip some parts or just look over them. Show watchers are attuned to the store because it is only an hour long each week.

That's a good point. To be honest, I must have somehow glossed over the leeches when reading the book, myself, b/c when we saw it on the show, I thought it was new and not in the book! I recall being pretty surprised when Joff purpled out.

I think one Targ bastard did but it's not a real trait of their's.

From reading about greyscale, it seems exposure to it doesn't guarantee that you will be affected by it.

Also I believe the only person to say anything about a Targ immunity was Viserys, and it's pretty obvious he never really knew what he was talking about. There's been Targ's who have died from disease.

I think the main takeaway about Tyrion being unaffected by greyscale or pale mare is how lucky he is and how many times he has escaped death.

Haven't there been greyscale plagues in Westeros? I think there should be one by the end of the series.
