I knew this would happen. It has been in development hell for 10 years. I will believe it will be made when the actually have a cast.

I didn't know they were still making these after the disasters of 2 and 3.

Yeah, I have to say I've been rolling my eyes each time Jurassic Park 4 has popped up around here, thinking its not going to happen.

I hope this gets done. I'll eat up JP movies until they stop making them. Though "development hell" doesn't bode well for this one.

Jurrasic Park 2, from my understanding, was a product of Michael Chriton being forced to write a sequel. His heart wasn't really in it, and this the story suffered.
Granted the movie once again took a lot of liberties, even stealing stuff from the first book.
I mean Ian Malcolm is said to have not made it in the first book. Then he miraculously comes back to life to be the main character in The Lost World????

But he survived in the first movie, that's all that matters (movie-wise).

Yes.

Can you at least make an argument. I thought those movies were garbage. The only reason they got any fanfare because they lived in the shadow of the magnificent original, just like Matrix 2 and 3.

JP2 wasn't terrible. The black chick was fricking terrible, but overall, it wasn't horrible. Yea, it had some stupid scenes and I'd rather they follow the book, but compared to JP3, JP2 was Oscar-worthy.
JP3 was beyond fricking terrible. Just flat out, balls to the wall fricking stupid. A kid survives by himself in the dino infested jungle living off candy bars and stopping dinosaurs with jars of T-rex piss.
Yea, ok. Then throw in the stupid fricking raptor throat whistle. Seriously? Why the hell would the raptors just stop? They would've eaten the shite out of them. Raptor throat whistle my arse.
And then, don't try to tell me that the T-rex would get killed by that bitch of a fish eating dino. Just a bunch of stupid all around.

Sure, but let's not ignore the fact that you've made zero arguments as to why you think they're "terrible."
Were they as good as the original? Of course not. I thought they were pretty solid for sequels though. I thought two was good even though I didn't like the end (in the city). And there were other parts of 2 that were stupid (like the gymnastic black daughter), but all in all it was pretty good. I actually thought 3 was really solid, especially for a third installment. I liked some of the new dinosaurs they introduced, and the settings (I thought the birdcage thing was cool). Aside from some campy-ish stuff (like being able to communicate with raptors) I thought it was pretty well-done, and could've been longer (it seemed really short).
Of course, I went into them not expecting them to live up to the original, because that would've been stupid. But IMO for sequels, they did a good job.

Malcolm survived the first book but is badly injured and has a long road to recovery. Uses a cane a lot. He's one of the main characters in book 2.
They butchered the story in the second movie. Par for the course.

Scruffy don't like JP3. No Scruffy doesn't.

Crichton was pushed into writing The Lost World and, as many people have already stated, you can tell. The writing is definitely different. Its not as good.
I'm a huge Crichton fan and I wish they would do an adaptation of one of his books and stay true to the material. Jurassic Park is a great movie, but it pales in comparison to the book.
I know, I know, the book is never as good as the movie, but JP was so much darker and grittier than the movie. I wish Spielberg would've gone that route.
It saddens me how they never seem to want to stay faithful to his stories.
Timeline (probably my all-time favorite of his books) - shite movie.
EDIT - Don't know why I put Sum of All Fears. Crichton wrote State of Fear.

No, Scruffy does not. He has the same feelings about JP3 as he does for the Star Wars prequels.
