Austin Rivers wants to play PG next year

Austin Rivers says he would prefer to play point guard next season. Rivers was drafted as a bit of a combo guard and the Hornets used him at shooting guard while Eric Gordon was sidelined. Of course, Rivers had arguably the worst rookie season ever, at least from a shooting point of view. The rookie shot just 37 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range in 61 games.

"I played best when I was a one. Moving forward, that's what I'm going to try to do," Rivers said.

Sounds like a kid who is buying into Williams/Demps plans.

Ask him to play one on one.

He would have played it this season if Gordon would have been healthy

Battle for starting PG spot in a game of 21 between AR and Heady? Would be fun to watch.

Trey Burke says "ok, you go for it."

If only he could pass or handle the ball...

he's probably only repeating what Monty told him

Rivers is going to end up being a hell of a player in the next couple of years. And, personally, I like the idea of him at PG.
Is there some kind of well defined bet we can come up with regarding his future success? If so, I'm willing to put up money.

im with you. dude will be a good one. he can get to the rim and handle the ball. i was confused as hell watching him play this season cause i watched him, full of confidence, at duke. he played this year like he was new to the game and gave too much respect to the rim defenders.

Monty did not sounded so convinced about this in the fans interview posted in Pelicans. com today. He was specifically asked about Rivers playing PG and he said that he likes having the versatility that allows him to have Rivers at PG sometimes, but not as the main PG of the team.

I like it too. He won't be a traditional pg and it will drive people crazy. That said, if he can become a blind man's Westbrook, I'll be happy.

We'd be best if he played bench
