It was even less than 6 feet I would say 2 to 4 feet.

Here is the video:

You don't think they discussed it prior to him signing his card.

The tv interview was after the score card being signed where he said he made the drop to seek an advantage...

Masters officials state that they reviewed the infraction but cleared Tiger prior to signing his card. They admit that they had a change of heart after hearing his press conference

Exactly. Within 2 yards is pretty close on a ~530 yard hole

I thought the same, but I'm obviously biased. It also was a slight downhill lie. Makes perfect sense to drop behind the original lie to avoid a potential roll in to the divot.

It's almost the exact same statement he put out after he was penalized two shots in Abu Dubai earlier this year and missed the cut bc of it. He did not write this.

I'm not biased, I'm not a Tiger fan at all. His drop seemed legal to me. His statement that he was looking for an advantage is what did him in.

Well someone speaking in his behalf did. Are we really arguing whether or not Tiger typed this on his iPhone? It is his official response.

There's no question that it's what screwed him over. The craziest part of all this is that there are actually people who call in and tattle.

He said he did it in order not to hit the pin again. Tiger is good but NOT good enough to hit a pin from 90 yds away 2 shots in a row. Pretty sure he said it a little sarcastically.

If you know the rule book, every damn thing in can give you an advantage in a situation.

He gained zero competitive advantage

He said he moved back so as NOT TO HIT THE PIN AGAIN. If Tiger was THAT GOOD. He would have 50 majors by now.

I'm shocked that Twitter didn't make a special ruling allowing Tiger to exceed their characters per tweet rule.

It's a terrible rule. It was closer to two feet than two yards. Tiger got screwed, golf can be gay.

This is horseshite. He made the drop. He had a rules official that didn't bring it up. They signed his card. To do it after the fact is horseshite.

This is exactly the way I feel. Complete bullshite that a spectator sitting their arse on their couch can just call and report every little suspected violation they think they see. If the rules official following that group did not feel there was an infraction, and he was cleared of any wrongdoing before he signed his scorecard, then there should not have been any penalty called after the fact. Golf rules are so stupid at times.
