Robert Hunter
I read/listen to so much of his stuff that when I've written things in the past they have come out similar to Dead stuff anyways

I think "Fire and Rain" may be the finest song ever written.
"Eulogy" might be second
"Comfortably Numb" is probably third
Those are my hipshoot picks (and none of those is my favorite song, though they're up there.)

Craig Finn. Or Neil Finn (no relation). Depending on my mood.
you're in luck, Craig Finn is hosting a songwriting workshop at this year's Sanibel Island Writer's Conference

Love D Boon. Michael Jackson writes propaganda songs. But I know I'm more of a Mike Watt.

I have a similar style as Gary Clark Jr.
My guitar playing, not saying I'm on their level, but is a cross between Gary Clark Jr./Hendrix/and Continuum John Mayer.
Again, not saying I'm as good as these guys.

I may have a treat for you, then.
This is an unvarnished, live performance with just him and his guitar. He was 22 freakin' years old. If any of the young group of "singers" or "songwriters" woke up tomorrow with 1/8 of JT's talent, they would die from the shock.
