Domenica is Delicious!

I finally got to Domenica and I can't wait to go back.
First, the bread is delicious and I'm crazy about the olive oil. It's peppery and so darn good. I bought 2 bottles and wish I'd bought more, now, because I gave a bottle to my Mom.
The pizza. Johnny's has nothig on this pizza. Thin crispy crust, fresh ingredients...outstanding. I'm spoiled for any other pizza now.
I had the muffalatta. The meats were wonderful. I prefer the traditional Italian bread, but it was very good. I only ate half of a quarter piece and had the other half for lunch today.
I had a strawberry bellini that was fresh and refreshing. Dessert was "Kanafeh-crispy pastry, sweetened ricotta, almonds, & local honey". I only intended to have a few bites and maybe bring the rest home for later, but it was warm and irresistable. I ate every bite.
I wish I'd had the cauliflower. I watched a video on how that's made and it looks unbelievably flavorful.
A fresh brussel sprouts salad came with the muff. Ate every bite. First time I've had raw sprouts and they were fresh and crispy served like a slaw. There was a light light dressing and I wish I could figure out what it was. I'd like to make that salad.
Service was excellent. It's a good thing I don't live near this restaurant. I'd probably go once a week.

Saw it on a program showcasing pizza across the country last week. I'll get there one of these days as it looked very nice.

You can't beat their happy hour special that's for sure.

It's not just the pizza. I saw some fine fish dishes float past me. Google the video on his roasted cauliflower. I saw it and almost ordered it just to taste it. I wish I had. Usually, I order whatever I want to taste, but this was the last meal on a 5 day restaurant trip to New Orleans and I was too full!

I need to check out their happy hour. Half off pizzas and beer/wine/cocktails is hard to beat.

Would you mind adding this to the dining guide?

Make it a point to visit happy hour there everytime I'm in Nola

Of course, LE! I'm writing up something with more details on fellow diner dishes as well. I'm writing several more reviews and will add those, also.
I might even post some pics.

Next time Gris, get the burrata. If you think you like their regular bread, wait till you taste the bread that comes with the burrata.
I really like their chicken livers with the oxtail ragout and the stracchi pasta dish.
The salads are also very good.
Not everyone likes this place, but their opinions don't really matter since they don't really understand Italian cuisine.

I saw the Burrata go by along with the fresh ricotta app and I wanted both of those, as well. There was more on the menu that interested me than I though there would be. The place is a gem.

That's the same dish, FYI. I agree, a personal favorite.
I went on friday for happy hour. I split a prosciutto pizza, very fresh and tasty.
They let me order the Matzo ball soup with duck meat a la carte. While it was good, matzo balls are lost on me. The broth and duck were worth fantastic.
Then, I split the rabbit taggliatelle and the lamb raviolli. I'm usually a stracci first guy but these two dishes have made it clear, I will eat any pasta served from Domenica. The fresh pasta with the stewed rabbit and porcinis. Mamma Mia!! The Lamb Raviolli was great too, the brown butter sauce with pancetta and sage was just tough to beat. The raviolli was reminded me of pot stickers, the bottom was slightly browned and made for a nice texture contrast.
Go for the happy hour but stay for the pasta. You will be back many times. Glad you enjoyed it Gris Gris!!

That's what I'm afraid of! This chef is very creative and good.
I almost asked to taste the matzo ball soup. I love matzo balls, but only IN the soup. I put a little seasoning in mine, though.

I love the pepper olive oil.

Glad y'all enjoyed it Gris. Next time I go I'm determined to branch out .. bored of the pizzas and the stracci dish. Want to try some more under the radar stuff.

There's a lot to try, but I'm not sure I can get past at least a slice of pizza. Maybe after I get addicted to the other things that look so terrific.

the handful of times I've been there I've gotten a pizza on each occasion and also tried others' pies .. they're hit or miss for me. have yet to be blown away. Ancora does better pizza, IMO. Not to say Domenica's is terrible, btw.

Haven't had Ancora. Is the crust as thin and crispy as Domenica?
