No but I heard it was a butt whipping. Von Julien, PG, will be D1. Deuce Wallace will be D1 in football as a QB. No sure on their other players.
Deuce Wallace (2016) will got MM for football
Von Julien (2015) will go HM or MM or basketball
Malik Crowfield/Herb McGee (2016) likely HM or MM for basketball
Jordan Andrews (2015) LM for basketball
Joe Anderson (2015 or 2016) MM to HM for football
2 kids who are 2018 that will likely play college basketball if they keep progressing

Just got a message from Josh Gray saying he went for 31 & 5 in a big road win over Western Texas last night. I know Im not the only one excited for this guy to get here...

SOS, I'm pumped about Gray based on his numbers. Have you seen him play? I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm about a juco guy. I thought Odo would be more of a factor based on his numbers but I never saw his film.
also, do we have a legit shot at Malik Newman?
and is Simmons firm?

The staff has to feel good that Newman visited campus in the fall. He hasn't really started to look at colleges though. Kentucky appears to be the favorite.
Simmons is firm to LSU by all accounts.

I don't expect Gray to come in and be a 15 point scorer next year. I think he can contribute similarly to a Charles Carmouche type. He will likely play the 2 spot rather than the PG here because we should have Hickey and Quarterman at that spot. Gray is 6th in the JUCO ranks in free throw attempts which will be nice. He isn't shooting three's at as high a % as he started the year but I think once he doesn't feel the need to shoot every time he has the ball he will get his % up.

While LSU is in a nice spot for Newman, I wouldn't get your hopes up. We have to hope that Simmons gets in his ear and decide to play together but still think our chances are 20% or less at landing him.

I am very happy with our position with Ben. He seems to be in love with LSU. All reports on his visit were very good and I feel great about landing him as long as we keep Coach Patrick.

Jacob Evans 6'6 guard from St. Michael. check him out. John Lucas tweeted he was a sleeper.

gray will score. think he will play well off hickey. he should start at the 2 and hornsby should fill stringer's role.
i'd say less than 10% chance on newman. he likes LSU, just likely ends up at one of the giants, probably kentucky
simmons is firm.

Seems like the staff has made him a priority for the 2015 class.

Definitely highest LA guy on our board. Don't think Frazier will get an offer.

Ryan-Jacob is a good player but IMO not LSU level talent. He is not an aggressive player at all, at least the times I have seen him play.

Kind of a status update on Josy Gray - but his numbers the last handful of games have me a bit worrisome.
His last 5 games he hasnt shot better than 39.3% from the floor and has had 4 games under 30%. He shot 9 for 52 from 3 (17.3%) in those games.
These games have really beat down his shooting percentages for the season.

Video Highlights of Jonah Bolden (UCLA commit that LSU recruited) vs Jack McVeigh (2015 SF that LSU is recruiting). Both are tall SFs and McVeigh is a guy to watch.

Josh is going to be a volume feast/famine player for LSU. Just look at his FT shooting, 15/17 in one game and then he goes 2/9 from the line in the next.
Still averaging 30+p/gm though. I imagine teams have a lot of film now and are keying on him at all times.

I'm curious to see what Gray does as a defender. IIRC, he was a pretty good defender at Tech. He should improve our on-ball defense next season with his height & quickness.

St. John’s Among Those in Mix for 2015 Guard Sampson
February 28th, 2014 10:24 am
St. John’s has unsuccessfully recruited two players from Louisiana in the past two years.
Rico Gathers chose Baylor over St. John’s in 2012 and Jarell Martin picked LSU over the Johnnies (among others) in 2013.
But knowing that they have some heavy lifting to do for 2015 and 2015, St. John’s coach Steve Lavin and his staff are back at it again.
St. John’s is among a handful of teams in the mix for 2015 Louisiana shooting guard Brandon Sampson, the No. 57 player in the Class according to 247 Sports.
“Coach Lavin works pretty hard, him or Tony Chiles,” Baton Rouge (LA) Madison Prep coach Jeff Jones told SNY.tv.
Asked who was working the hardest for Sampson, Jones said, “I’d have to say St. John’s, Arizona, Texas A&M and LSU.”
Once St. John’s loses D’Angelo Harrison, Jamal Branch, Phil Greene and likely Rysheed Jordan, there will be plenty of available playing time in the backcourt.
“I think they have a real chance,” Jones said. “One thing that’s important to Brandon is going somewhere where he’s the guy. He’s not really interested in going anywhere where he’s a piece or whatever. He wants to go somewhere where he’s going to have a chance to be the guy.
“St. JOhn’s could be one of those situations, as is A&M. And also he wants to go somewhere where he’s going to have a chance to position himself to hopefully make it to the next level.”
Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, Georgetown and UCLA are also involved for Sampson, who has been invited to the NBA Top 100 Camp and the Kevin Durant Skills Camp this summer.
“He’s probably got a better skill-set than Jarell,” Jones said. “Brandon’s an off guard. He can do some combo stuff. He can shoot it, he’s athletic. The more he plays, the better he gets. He’s a sponge.”
Jones said Sampson will go through the process this summer and fall.
“We’re going to go through the entire summer and then take officials in the fall and then make a decision somewhere in there,” he said.
Coach Bobby Sibley tweeted the link.
