Why did the Burt Wonderstone movie bomb so badly?

It'll be lucky to make 15M this weekend.
I have no interest in seeing it in theaters and the previews don't look all that great, but you'd think the premise and the star power alone should have been good for at least a $20M opening.
Nowadays with the cost of movie tickets, $20M should be a pretty easy mark to attain with proper marketing.

two reasons -
1. people download stuff for free
2. people are too cheap to pay for anything nowadays
also if you notice this film was put together on a relatively small budget of $30M. if this same film had been put together 5 years ago, it likely would have had a budget of at least double that amount. studios are doing everything they can do adjust to the "Give me everything for free" generations coming up.

Even that terrible-looking Halle Berry movie beat it at the box office.

Probably because it looks fricking retarded and no one wants to go pay $10 to see shite that isn't even worth a download.

Don't download movies and the cost of movies is stupid now, yes I am too cheap to pay for a couple of hours of entertainment.

That didn't stop terrible looking movies like The Campaign last year and Jack and Jill the year before from making 25M+ on it's opening weekend on star power alone.

The Campaign looked somewhat decent, complete opposite of Wonderstone.

Steve Carell isn't quite on Ferrell or Sandler's star power level yet and its been a while since Jim Carrey was a legit box office star.

You answered your question. People aren't going to pay $10 a ticket to see that crap.

Steve Carell's wig looks so ridiculous

They could cut the prices in half and I still don't think anybody would go to a movie theater to see two over the hill men in bad wigs do magic tricks.

Because it looks stupid.
Some cheap off color laughs set in a movie set in Vegas. Again.

Steve Carell can't carry this kind of movie.

This. Outside of 40 Year Old Virgin, which was carried by the supporting cast, Carell has done shite in the lead role and nothing of note. He isn't a box office draw because people are starting to understand, whether they admit it or not, that his shite gets old and he isn't funny in large doses.

I don't know but I'm glad it isn't doing well.
Maybe kids are getting smarter and the adults that have been supporting crap like this are growing up.

Has anyone actually watched this movie yet? Is it funny at least?
