Its actually pretty somole. I dont have to look hard for reasons. Because he's an a-hole. Cheated on his wife and they have kids. Isn't that enough of a reason
do you know how many sports figures cheated on their wives that you are probably unaware of?

Tiger donated a bunch of money to the New Orleans First Tee or something, and they misappropriated the money, and for that sole reason he swore he would never come back to the Big Easy

Sounds legitimate at least. Not some baseless hate for NOLA.

I hate him because he cheated on his wife 100s of times. Sometimes with a dozen women at once.
I believe in marriage and I believe in being faithful to your spouse. It's a character thing.

Phil does stupid shite. Lost a major being a total dumbass. I like him but he just aggravates me playing that style. When you have a major tournament won just hit an iron off the tee and collect your trophy.

I used to dislike Tiger for two major reasons.
The first reason was his father's behavior. His dad running around talking about how he molded a world class athlete I view as a negative in the same way I view Andre Agassi's father and Todd Marinovich's father as negatives. The height of it was probably when he came out with his "How to Train a Tiger" book. That was just awful. IMO it encouraged countless fathers to satisfy their own urges to compete at a higher level through their children. Which amounts to child abuse in its more extreme forms. In rooting for Tiger you end up also rooting for his father's behavior to be emulated and I think that's a horrible outcome.
The second problem I had was with his fans more than him. He was made by many into a paragon of virtue (which I never thought he was). To me Tiger is just a guy who is spectacular at golf and has been put up on a pedestal from a very early age as a result of that. Does that make him a bad guy? No, not really. His churlish and self-centered behavior is fairly par for the course if you take a kid and treat him like that for decades.
FWIW I think I would take more pleasure in watching Tiger if he played a competitive sport that was more spectacular on television. As it is I still enjoy playing a ton more than I would ever enjoy watching (I only end up watching golf on television when a relative puts it on).

If Tiger would roll up to the next tourney with two porn stars on his arms and then sit down at the interview table and just go all Sheen on everybody like "yeah I'm banging them all tourney and I'm gonna win too anything else beetches ?" and then go out and be Tiger again he would become the greatest legend in all sports. A living Babe Ruth
I agree. However, he wouldn't have landed those mega corporate endorsements if he had come up that way. He needs to do this now. Instead he's groveling back to Elin. Tiger needs to own it.

Exactly why I don't like him.

To be fair, I wasn't a golf or Tiger fan early in his career. I started cheering for him after the 2008 US Open. That was the first time I watched a tournament all the way through. When I fell in love with the game.

You must not like athletes. Or musicians. Or most entertainers for that matter.

tiger is one of the few really successful athletes that actually has a reason to be hated and yet you are confused? people dont like cheating on wives and families. people dont like their role models and heros to be texting sluts about golden showers and gang bangs. if i had to pick a specific sport out of every sport in the entire fricking world that would have the most fans upset with that kind of behavior, what do you think it would be? it's easy to see why he's hated.
and it's cool if you can look past that and say "he's just an athlete, i dont give a shite what he does off the course." that's fine, but it just means that you view athletes differently than other people who do care about that stuff. plenty of people dont want to support that kind of person and dont want to see that kind of person supported by others, so they hate him.

I bet if you cross referenced people who liked or even loved Chipper Jones, with people who hate Tiger, you'd see overlap.

I will agree with you on this one...His Father was a grade A arse. He reaped the benefits of his son's conduct and prowess. Same as the Williams sisters in tennis; but other than a Book, what does this have to do with your dislike of Eldrick? His father I can understand, but Tiger is not his father, just that his father just happend to be who raised him. Are you saying that Mr. Woods would have done the same thing if he married a white woman and birthed some other sport prodigy (for lack of a better term)?

I disagree, what we saw of Tiger was not real.
A relentlessly, competitive golfer who had a never before seen focus on becoming the greatest ever--outside of basketball. He had the perfect sports demeanor, the perfect wife, the perfect family all constantly ingrained in our head by the media, PGA and Nike. He was a golf cyborg that could put away the sticks and become the penultimate family man.
I enjoyed watching him decimate the field in events, especially Phil and especially at the Majors.
After the scandal, I felt that I was sold a false bill of goods and chose not to root for him. Like a previous poster said, I would respect him more if he didn't hide behind the lies and bring his sluts with him to the tournament--like Rodman or Barkley.
He has done wonders for the game and the professionals who play it, I just stopped wanting him to win. I don't care if he does or doesn't win, I choose to root for someone else.

Yeh Iheard it had more to do with he wanted money donated to his charity.
