My favorite concert was seeing Nils Lofgren perform at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco. The reason it is my favorite is it was the last occasion that 5 sets of brothers were together. We all grew up in the same town and hung out together from around age 5 through high school. Shortly thereafter we began dispersing, and then one died in a car accident, then another suffered brain damage in another car accident. Over the years I have only gotten together with 3 of the original 10. But the memories of our childhood and teens together made the event special.

Bad Brains at Tip's '93ish. That was a seething moshpit. I think one dude actually jumped from the upper level down into the crowd at one point.

Close second is Roger McGuinn, Stuart, Florida at a little early 1900s theater back in '92. The place probably only seated 150 people or so, so every seat was good. It was just him and his 12 string Rickenbacker. Between tunes he'd give the back story to a lot of the old Byrds songs.

I saw both Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin in the PMAC.....hard to choose but let's just say PF was a mind altering experience so it stands out more.....

you pretty much saw the two most legendary bands of all time sir. From the footage I've seen of Led Zeppelin, they are a better live band than anything out there right now including jam bands. The level of talent all around was just spectacular. Please tell more about pink floyd in the pmac. What songs did they play? what year was it?

Saw both of these also and yes they were legendery shows, but as for the PF; was April 77 (was a student) and the strangest of concerts as they were touring Animals and we arrived inside around 8:10PM they were already playing "sheep" which closes the album, then went to beginning of album all they way through "pigs on the wing" (with inflattable pig and all). Gilmore says we will take a short break; they come back and play entire "Wish You Were Here" to perfection; then a sloppy version of "Money" for encore (like had a plane to catch) then departed! The highly stoned crowd was truly stunned and left in bewilderment!
LZ (Feb. 75)was the opposite as they played for a good 2.5 H evrything in their catalog pretty much to that point! They were heavy duty for sure!
But anyway a partial list from mine:
Jethro Tull-72 N.O. & B.R.
ELP-N.O-72; B.R. 74 & 77
The Who-B.R. 76
PF-B.R. 77
LZ-B.R. 75
Genesis-Houston 82
Peter Gabriel-Houston 82 86 92
King Crimson N.O. 2001
UK-B.R. 78
Black Sabbath-N.O. 72
Yes B.R. 74 79
Procol harum N.O. 74
Could go on!

rabbit, was Tull Municipal Auditorium the Thick As A Brick Tour? Think that was '72. I was there, 2nd row, still have pics. That one still ranks up there, especially the theatrics.

As far as best I dunno if I can name one after this many decades of shows...

Johnny & Edgar Winter in clubs before they went national was cool.

Nugent & the Amboy Dukes before he went solo still memorable- wearing a loin cloth only, shooting the flaming arrow, and sat on the tailgate of a pickup with him after the show shooting the shite.

I'm a big Govt Mule fan. Have seen them 10+ times so they kinda fade into each other. NOLA 2010 Haynes walks to the front of the stage and hands a pick to me specifically.

Stevie Ray Vaughn a month before his death was awesome.

Back in the day were plenty of historic shows at the Warehouse in NOLA. A Emerson, Lake, & Palmer one stands out as a big show.

In technical performance Satriani might be the most mind blowing live.

Prolly seen Buddy Guy 10+ times. Unique was a co headlining show with Santana. Them in extended jams was guitar heaven.

Just saw Bob Seger for the first time tonight in Green Bay. Awesome show. Not the best concert I've ever seen but wanted to say go see him if you have the chance.

RHCP with Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam opening - 1991 Municipal Auditorium

honorable mention: the first time Blind Melon played the Varsity (1992) for less than half the place filled up.

The JT TAAB @ NOMA was May 72 with Wild Turkey opening, was in balcony for this amazing show. They played it again the following Fall-Oct. 72 at PMAC with Gentle Giant opening!

Saw the Trilogy Tour Aug. 72 was great and raw energy!
Those sound like some great shows you mention also!

Yep, it was awesome. Tried to tape it but mainly got sucking sounds from the guy next to me doing weed the whole time.

ETA: Saw Tull a few years ago when they were touring with Lucia Micarelli. She was absolutely mind-boggling. Ian Anderson hadn't lost a step. Still the greatest showman in rock history.
