The importance of losing

I still don't understand how any true hornets fan can be cheering for wins at this point. we have absolutely no shot at the playoffs and each win potentially drops us lower in the pecking order for a franchise small forward.
Were so fortunate that big men will be scooped up early in the lottery leaving perfect fits like Muhammed and Porter available for the taking as low as fifth or sixth in the draft.
So go nuggets, twolves and suns. The drafting of a small forward keeps us on track with the Oklahoma City model

I don't see any franchise SF in this draft. I'd rather see improvement with the players we have currently than tanking.

OH great, we get to do this again

Well I have 200 reasons. I bet 200 on them to win over 26.5 games this year on a futures bet in Vegas.

Because I bet we would win more than 26.5 games, is that reason enough to cheer?

The Hornets have a better than .600 record when Gordon plays so I don't expect a bottom 5 finish and if you aren't going to finish bottom 5 then taking is stupid. Winning means you're an up and comer and makes it easier for Demps to sell Free Agents.
Would you rather have the #7 pick and not be attractive to free agents or the #11 pick and Demps gets his choice of any Free Agent besides the SuperStars?

Anyone we pick is going to be a project like Austin Rivers. Maybe they're the long term answer but it will be a while before they are able to prove they aren't a bust.

I think I'm late to the punch here, but

Here's how I see it..
You can call all the Tank supporters fair-weather, horrible fans all you want, but I am for what's best for the franchise long term. In this case it helps our franchise if we lose and increase our chances at a quality pick in the draft. I hate it, but its the product of the system.
There are 4-6 teams that can win the title any given year. 5 of those teams are the same ones because they have the money and prestige to attract all the big players. Then there is usually one outsider (OKC) that gets in because they drafted well and got lucky. This is what the Pelicans need to strive for.

The more I think about this the more I think it's wrong. Everyone keeps saying we should copy OKC or the Spurs, but they never lost on purpose. The Spurs had one bad year and OKC was just really horrible. But I can't think of a championship team, over the last 10 years or so, that was built solely through the draft.
Miami- big free agents and Wade.
Dallas- hasn't had a losing year in a long, long time (no lottery picks).
Lakers- drafted Kobe and Bynum (10th pick), but the rest were by trade or FA.
Spurs- drafted all the big 3, but Parker and Manu were lucky late picks.
Pistons- Hamilton and Prince were drafted, but the stars were all added by trades.
Celtics- Pierce and Rondo were drafted (a decade apart), but the team was built by trades.
My point is, this team can't just sit back and wait for the draft every year. They need to show constant improvement and add pieces to a really good core (Davis, Gordon, Anderson and maybe Rivers/Vasquez). It doesn't need more lottery pieces..

Maybe its just me, but im very competitive. I HATE to lose, period. Losing breeds losing. Year after year, if we arent magically a top 3 team in the NBA, you're going to say tank and hope to get a better player in the draft. I dont agree with this. In order to be a winner, you have to have a winning mentlity. But if you're ok with losing because you think you will get a great draft pick, you might as well get used to losing because its gonna happen for a long time. That being said, I like the direction this team is headed. Alot of potential, I want to develop the guys we have and instill a winning mentality in this program, and head into the next season with a lot of momentum
