Just poured my first glass of 4 roses... Wow.. GREAT stuff. I highly recommend, especially for the price.

I was recently given a bottle of Rare Breed Wild Turkey. Anybody had it?

I got a bottle of Forty Creek as a Christmas present. A buddy who works at a liquor store calls it "the Crown killer". It's cheaper than Crown Royal and has a nice butterscotch flavor. If you want a whisky to drink around the house on a Wednesday, you can do a lot worse

Can you get "forty creek", at most any liquor store? I might check it out.

I think I saw Forty Creek at Cuban Liquor and at Albertson's. the guy who recommended it to me works at Cuban.

Sounds like you guys have much more experience than I do, but I have had the opportunity to try a few special bourbons. I did a PVW tasting where I got to try the 15, 20, and 23. I then got to follow that up with a AH Hirsch Reserve. That was the best I have yet to try. Currently working on the sat couple of fingers of a bottle of Jefferson 17. Not sure what I'll be trying next. I'm sure my wife will have something nice for me for Christmas.

Got a bottle of this from Specs yesterday, haven't tried it yet. The guy there said it was pretty good and was getting good reviews. I will report back.
I saw the 1836 Texas bourbon on sale at Specs for $20, so I went ahead and picked some up. For the price I can mix it with coke if its not worth drinking straight

Just cracked the bottle of Blantons. It seems like it could sneak up on you pretty quickly. It's very smooth and deceptively strong.
I'm drinking it neat.

Gonna love up on some Elmer T Lee this evening. Can't start now, due to Mass at 4 pm.
To the other posters regarding Forty Creek: it is a nice whiskey, and that flavor you mention comes from it being aged in wooden casks that were previously used to age sherry.

I knew my wife would take care of me. She gave me a bottle of Parker Heritage 27. It might be the smoothest bourbon I have tried to date. Would have expected it to be more woody but it isn't. I really like it.

If I knew how to post pictures I would have posted Wathen's. I found a bottle one day and it is great bourbon. I only bought one and after I had drank it I was pissed because I didn't think I would find it again.
I couldn't find much about it online either. If you notice it is the same exact bottle as Elmer T. Lee with just a different label.

The Hudson Baby Bourbon is not great. I think they tried to cash in on the Bourbon craze and market themselves out of Manhattan as being something special. It is definitely not old enough for the price that they get.

I told ya's it was good. The ironic thing is that I avoided 4 Roses like the plague for so long, mostly because of the connotations that went with the name. Until 2002 it was a shite whiskey sold by Seagrams. After that the brand was bought by Kirin (the Japanese beer folks) and retuned to provenance. Read a lil history HERE
Please excuse any factual/grammatical errors: I've had lots of bourbon egg nog.

Appreciate the info. I had no idea it was a cheapo Seagrams whiskey... The tables have definitely turned. Ill easily rank this up there with blantons or Elijah Craig 18.

Whiskies are strange. Different occasions dictate which whisky to drink. My old banker always said scotch tasted better the shittier the day at work was. I found it true for many whiskies

Picked up a bottle of Macallan 12 just to try it out, going to open it up tonight. The real question is do I prepare it neat, one cube or two cubes?

Made some kick arse egg nog last night with a handle of macallan 15 year. Incredible egg nog.
