If Georgia, Kansas State, and Stanford lose next week, does LSU go to #5?

And, if so, will the Cap One or Cotton still pass on the Tigers?

How would they pass on the #5 team in the country with a fanbase that travels really well and is a national brand and played in the national championship game last year?

How does the #5 team drop to the Chick-Fil-A bowl?

I don't think it happens. We still have some games of interest next week regarding our bowl placement, I think.

How can LSU possibly get to #3? ND, Bama or UGA, Florida, Oregon are locks.

It isn't about the ranking.

It's about the teams available to the bowl.

The Capital One can't get Kansas St or Stanford, so it doesn't matter what happens to them.

Georgia losing is already assumed in the projections.

Seems like the top three of the BCS are pretty well locked up as being teams other than LSU:

1) Notre Dame
2) Bama/UGA winner
3) Florida

Oregon at #5 in the BCS will probably stay ahead of LSU since both LSU and Oregon will not play

Kansas State at #6 might move up or down depending on their result - but it won't affect LSU's bowl placement IMO (tho KSU could fall out of BCS bowl placement with a loss)

Stanford could also lose and potentially fall out of the BCS and into a lower tier bowl game - but again this won't affect LSU's bowl placement when two SEC teams are already locks for a BCS bowl.

Stanford is irrelevant to LSU's ranking.....they are already ahead of us int he computers...which is the only thing that will change. The Harris and coaches' polls usually don't move teams down unless they lose.

You don't drop to the Chik-Fil-A Bowl....it's about matchups. The SEC doesn't rank its teams and then send the higher ranked ones to certain bowls aside from the BCS. The Cotton wants aTm/Texas and they are probably going to get it. IF UGA lays an egg against Bama, they aren't going to the Cap One. THey went last year and a Les Miles vs Michigan game has more appeal than UGA/Mich. That would move UGA to outback and SCar to ChikFilA. Too much is still up in the air. I have seen 4 bowl projections and LSU is in the Capital One, Cotton, Outback, and Chik-Fil-A on the 4 projections. That means noone has a fkn clue where we are going and noone will until we see how the Bama/UGA game goes.

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings. LINK

If LSU is #3, they'd be the 2nd SEC team. But this isn't possible this year, so I'm not sure why it's being discussed.

Any possibility Texas A&M could go to the Orange Bowl?

FSU & TAMU?

I read a Bleacher Report article earlier about this game but seems unlikely to me...

No.

It's impossible for any SEC team besides Florida to get an at-large BCS bid at this point.
