Is the Cotton Bowl the best Non-BCS bowl now or is it still Capital One?

Cotton Bowl
It's pretty much another BCS bowl.

The Cap One has the bigger payout, but I believe that the exposure and the hype with the Cotton now in Jerry World is better than the Cap One. Just my opinion.

The 2010 Capital One bowl debacle really soured me on that one. Also, have you shopped for Cotton Bowl tickets since the move to Jerry's World? Sure is priced like a BCS game.

it's a stronger bowl historically, but lost some prestige, but has since regained it somewhat

The Cap One took a huge hit after the 2010 game where the field condition was atrocious....
Frankly, LSU gave the Cotton Bowl its current swagger when we lobbied for the 2011 game vs TAMU....

Big 12 > Big Ten...
So Cotton > Capital One
So Cotton > Capital One

Cotton is the most big name traditional one, should have been a BCS bowl, probably woulkd have been with the new stadium

The Capital one Bowl just sucks.

Cap 1 is a better bowl as far as better teams play in it. For a while it was considered the best non-BCS game.
Right now I'd say thanks to Jerry World, plus the exclusive prime time TV slot, the Cotton Bowl passed the Cap 1 in prestige...even though I still think the Cap 1 is a better football game just because of the selection process.

I think it's the Cotton, but most will say Cap One

I wish Capital One Bowl was still called Tangerine Bowl or Citrus Bowl...I hate bowls to be named exclusively after a company. Like Chick-fil-a Bowl and Peach Bowl

I'm sick of the Capital One Bowl as well. I prefer Cotton Bowl, if only because the past few times LSU has played at Jerry World we've taken over the lots like refugees, proving that choosing LSU is in the financial best interest of the city.

Yeah. Haven't been to the stadium but understand it's spectacular. The Cap One Bowl plays in a sewer. The Cotton Bowl historically/traditionally was one of the Big 4 major bowls, but at some point (I'm not exactly sure when) the Fiesta Bowl edged them out of the Big 4.
Quite frankly, I had no problem w/ the old system -- the BCS blows. Under the old system, you'd have Oregon - Nebraska: Rose Bowl; Alabama - Notre Dame: Sugar Bowl; KSU - FSU: Orange Bowl; and LSU - Texas Cotton Bowl. Not bad.

According to Wikipedia, Cotton Bowl payout is $6.5MM, while Cap One is $4.25MM.
Cotton > Cap One
Plus, Cotton about to be one of the playoff bowls, while Cap One will not be.
Cotton >>>>>>> Cap One
