Why a 10-3 or 11-2 season is wildly successful this year....

I know that a lot of people will roll their eyes because for some reason everybody came into this season thinking championship.
I came in thinking anywhere from 10-2 to 12-0. Here's why:
1. It's ridiculous and absolutely unreasonable to come in expecting an undefeated season in this conference or any major conference.
2. We were starting a new QB.
But, let's review the adversity this team has had to face:
1. Best playmaker and projected starting CB kicked off team.
2. Starting LB not eligible.
3. Started freshman in Tyrann's and Tahj's place.
4. Freshman's backup at CB is another FR, who's backup is yet another FR.
5. Freshman (kwon) who started in Tahj's place gets injured and is replaced by more FR.
6. Hurst gets injured/leaves and we start FR in his place.
7. Williford gets injured and we start FR in his place. That makes 2 FR on the Oline for those counting.
8. Blue, who's having a breakout season gets injured and we roll with yet another FR in his place.
9. 4+ Freshman are rotated in the secondary and 3+ Freshman LBers are used in the rotation.
10. Our left Tackle who is supposed to protect our brand new QB gets hurt and is replaced by a less athletic 6th year senior who really has no NFL prospectus.
So, when you tally all that up we have:
* 7 starters lost, 3 of which were on the Oline.
* Starting 5 Freshman. (kwon, Mills, Hill, Vadal, Turner) That's not even counting young guys like collins, Martin, Eugene, Debo, and Thompson who we are relying on heavily in the rotations.
* New QB, 3 New OL, New RB. That is a recipe for disaster if I've ever seen one.
If i were to tell you this would all happen back in June, you guys would've all predicted 3-4 losses. The fact that we can finish this season strong at 11-2 with a possible BCS appearance coupled with the fact that we outplayed a very experienced Alabama team with an all world OL, is very fricking impressive.
here is why I'm pumped:
2013----QB returns, RBs all return, WRs all return, Our OLine next will be beast and athletic. WE should return about 9 starters on offense
Defense is playing A LOT of FR right now and I'm pretty sure Reid/Simon will return, along with Kwon alexander. Bama, be afraid. Be very afraid.
The future is so bright Tiger fans:

Moustache as become the "Phoenix" of LSU posters.

Thanks, I needed to read this.

If I could fit all that as my sig line I would!

Good post. Considering the injuries this season, Miles and the staff have done probably their best coaching since he's been here to get the wins we've gotten so far.

It really is absurd the number of casualties this team has suffered. The fact that we are still where we are at speaks volumes about our depth.

Add FR Travin Dural who looked like he would get playing time this year goes down with a knee injury during practice in August. He's a very fast, tall athletic receiver that we are also missing this season.

After witnessing the Curly years I'll take it.

I like you... (in a macho, manly, moustachioed way, of course) :)

It could be worse... Look at Auburn and Arkansas.
We still have a lot to play for.
We still have a lot to play for.

Posters need to realize we are down 8 starters since the spring game. No program can sustain that. Not even lord Saban.

Incredible how many key contributors we've lost and are where we are. Draft, suspension and injury. Incredible.

Add to these playing the toughest schedule.

Take Bama's best CB or second best off
Take Bama's starting LB off
Take 3 lineman off of their starting o
No way they are 9-0 even with aj and the wr's. They did lost Fowler, Hart and White, but D and O line are intact.

We bring back something like 36 of 44 in the 2 deep depending on who goes pro.
I'd love for Minter, Reid, and Simon to stay, though I am guess that Simon is gone at least. Possibly the other two as well.
9 starters back on offense (10 if you count Chris Faulk/Blue returning). 5 starters back on defense at least, maybe more considering the other 6 are all juniors and it would be suprising to see 6 juniors declare for the draft.
At any rate, we have an insane amount of talent and experience coming back. This year did not meet expectations, but when you consider the injuries/suspensions and how much we actually lost from last year's run, to think that a possible 11-2 and Sugar Bowl season is a "down/rebuilding" year is pretty incredible.
Plus, we have the #2 recruiting class coming in with some guys who will make immediate contributions.
I might make some different decisions from Miles during the game, but anyone who says that he is a bad coach is basically brain-dead when it comes to football. Saban never had us at this level consistently and Miles has been here 8 years going on 9. We will be a preseason top 3 team again next year. Bad coaches don't produce like that.

I concur with your assesment ! 2 Losses in a season would be a dream for many programs. At least the Tigers are a top 10 team and are mentioned for a quality run just about every year. Coach Bobby Bowden did not win a NC every year nor did Barry Switzer or Tom Osborne. Has Frank Beamer ever won a NC ? The ole ball coach has only won 1 time.
LSU has done a very good job this year despite all of the injuries and distractions.
