I've heard great things about Johnson's Boucaniere in Lafayette, Bushwood in Baton Rouge and I can't imagine anything bad possibly coming from Cochon Butcher in New Orleans.
ETA: except for Butcher's potato salad. I'm not a fan of it.

Pretty much nailed it.

While at Johnson's get a link of boudin to snack on for the drive home.

I have not experienced a good pulled pork sandwich in Baton Rouge other than the ones that come out of my own kitchen/bbq pit/cajun microwave.

eta: not to say that I'm the only one that can make a good pulled pork sandwich. I'm sure plenty of my fellow F&DB posters are highly skilled in such endeavors.

I don't. I usually get something else off the menu.

But where are all these great pulled pork sandwiches in other cities that are so different from the pulled pork in BR?

Sweet...it's been a couple of weeks since the last best BBQ thread. In BR, I say both Pimanyoli's and Bushwood have pretty good pulled pork sandwiches.

There is not a single good BBQ spot in LA. Home cooks can recreate NC, Tenn, or Texas specialties with great effectiveness, but no restaurant establishment has.

Laf - Never tried one from Johson's but everything there is good. I had a really good pulled pork for lunch at Cochon, and a good one at Eddie's also.

And I'm sure you have sampled all the offerings LA as to offer. Lived in Texas, it's all about the beef there. Here in south LA we got some folks that know how to cook up pig.

Johnson's or 2Paul's in Laffy. Eddie's is good when they're "on" but it's definitely hit or miss.

Don't know about Laffy or Nola, but my favorite pulled pork sandwich in BR is from Yvette Marie's. Totally not BBQ, but it's delicious.
