Both are solid squads but Alex smith at the helm is enough to make anyone nervous. It says a lot that they were persuing Manning

quote:Saints OLine period is elite! One of the best in the NFL, Nicks an All Pro was replaced with another All Pro. Bushrod like Evans has just become an All Pro with his best football still ahead, all that needs to be done is for Mr. Charles Brown to develop into an All Pro himself on the other side, and then you have outstanding depth in Matt Tennant who should be starting IMHO, Strief, and this year's draft picks Marcel Jones and Tiller who will be good in time.
Jahri Evans is an elite guard!

Niners have I think 4 new players at WR this year
Saints WRs >>> than 4 new WRs of SF since they haven't produced for SF yet.

They are different types of players, but you can't say Sproles is off the charts better than a guy like Frank Gore
sure I can. For what he does, Sproles is arguably the best in NFL history. Explosive 3rd down weapon.
Frank Gore is a better pure runningback, but we have PT/Ingram/Ivory for that. We finished 6th in rushing. Saints were 4th in YPA compared to San Fran being 19th

Jim Harbaugh is the next great NFL coach. Sean Payton has had so many issues in his life between his associations, his pain pill problems and bountygate that I wouldn't be surprised if he was out of football in 5 years. There's always something with that guy. He's the Bobby Petrino of the NFL

Didn't SF return all 11 starters on D? Besides, behind Gore is Brandon Jacobs, and LaMichael James could be a huge factor in special teams.

The guy backing Gore last year wasn't bad either, forget his name, he was a rookie!

Having Drew Brees plays a huge part in that though because of the threat he presents. Nobody is saying the 49ers offense is close to as good as the Saints, I'm just saying that the other 10 players themselves outside of the QB are just as if not better across the board except Graham but again Davis isnt too far behind. Lance Morre is very productive in the system but in a vaccume I'd rather Mario Manningham

Until Harbaugh has a ring and can consistently win Payton> Harbaugh

so you think that Randy Moss is going to be a stud?
You think the 49ers have a better oline?

SF.... easily a better defense
Offensive line is solid although Saints have the edge
Wide Receivers Saints have an edge
Running backs I would give to SF
TE I would believe is a wash as both are extremely talented

I'm counting more on AJ Jenkins.
Moss could be amazing or he could be off the team by week 4.
And yea I think the Niners OL is about as good as the Saints OL

Ivory has looked like shite in practice, Thomas is legit, Ingram hasn't done anything, and Sproles value is on special teams.
Frank Gore
Kendall Hunter
Brandon Jacobs
Anthony Dixon
LaMichael James
Yeah, I'd give it to SF

Hunter, Dixon and James have really done a lot.
And Sproles 86 catches last year really proved his value was on ST.
The difference in the teams is Brees. Put him on SF and they are the best team in the league. Take him off the Saints and our WR/TE are mediocre.

also, you say :

yet you list

LaMichael James
for the 49ers

do you even watch the saints play?
1300 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdowns

Colston and Graham are top players at their positions regardless of who's throwing to them.
