No. Those responsible for covering it up should face actual legal charges.

When are people going to get it in their head that this won't happen? The only remote possibility is if PSU decides themselves to shut down for a season...which won't happen.

Program allowed for molestation of children.
The whole athletic dept should be done.
People who were in positions of power allowed this to go on.
Soon enough, there'll be bumper stickers saying "I'm hapy for the hundreds of good coaches at Penn St".

Yes if I have to vote, and I'm not a fan of knee jerk reactions and understand the NCAA has no football-related violation to attack.

BUT, there was a rape farm for 20 fricking years occuring on campus. If no action is taken for thus, what will it take?

In all seriousness, it's a very complicated issue on a lot of levels.

It's not like the average PSU fan, or players, for that matter, knew this was happening and assisted to cover it up, unlike SMU where the proceedings were a poorly kept secret and involved the players directly. This tragedy was the making of the highest tier of PSU administrators and athletic officials. Let the actual law punish them, no need to shut down the entire program

I see no other way to deal with it.

This was the worst actions an athletic department has ever taken. It should be treated as such and given the worst penalty ever handed out.

Everyone responsible will face charges and has lost their job. Is that not enough? Why punish the players and fans and entire community?

The NCAA doesn't need any more latitude or empowerment.

Penn State will be sued and pay out millions to the victims. The people involved with the conspiracy will face criminal charges. The football program will carry a Scarlet Letter on their chest. It will be tough for them without the NCAA prying into criminal matters.

We are too accustomed to thinking that the NCAA is the answer in scandals if sports are somewhat involved. This is a widespread University issue.

Let this NCAA nonsense go.

People going to jail is action and it's not like the NCAA has to hand down penalties to dissuade other schools from doing something similar. I'm going to go out on a limb say this is going to be a rare situation.

No, this has absolutely nothing to do with the NCAA and the current players on the team.
