He wasn't offered. The only guy in the modern era (since 2000) besides McKnight that we offered but didn't get was Ryan Watson that went to USC but finished his career at Southern Miss. And that was under Saban.
And McKnight wasn't steered away by anything but a paycheck. We just didn't offer enough.

That would certainly change things and I may have missed it if they were talking about a certain time frame. Watson I knew of off the top of my head and there were several before him. They haven't had a bunch of national type recruits given their success, but LSU didn't get all of the ones they offered that were on that level.
A lot of people say Green wasn't offered, many say he was. He was an LSU legacy and one of the top 10-15 players in the state. Maybe he wasn't offered at all, or maybe it was a token offer where they didn't lose any sleep when he decided to go elsewhere (like Sylve).

That's very different. Promoting the in state school in a community that over whelming supports that team is one thing. Promoting a team in a different state is something else.

Promoting one school over another is one thing, but the outright lying to the home state school and intentionally deceiving the staff is something completely different. There is at least one assistant in New Orleans who chose to handle it that way.

Maybe LA high school coaches believe the athletes would be better off with Saban and his staff and would be better prepared for the NFL (for recruits with that potential).

Eric Reid was dyed in the wool purple and gold and always wanted to go to LSU. Collins grew up on the West Bank in New Orleans without similiar aspirations.
Saia would love for all of his kids to go to LSU but has nothing to do with Landon going to Bama. Landon did that all on his own.

Spoke with an assistant coach type Friday Night who shed some interesting light on the whole Landon Collins deal for me.
Weird how losing some recruiting battles will win you respect in the same circles that pushed kids elsewhere. At least to hear some tell it.

Surely by now, even the most anti Miles folks around will attest to the fact that not only can the guy recruit talent, he can also find "undervalued" recruits.
Pretty sure TM7's only big time offer was LSU. Who knew? CLM did.
I was as pissed as anyone last year when LC didn't come here, but c'mon man, Miles puts talent on the field. And even better, some of it is talent that other folks didn't recognize.

Since 2000, LSU has signed every Curtis kid it has offered except for Ryan Watson and Joe McKnight. Green didn't have an offer and neither did English. (You can ask Clean if you don't beleive us.)
McKnight had a bad family situation. I can understand wanting to get away from that. Same thing for Trevon Reed.

I don't think kids have to necessarily be "pushed" to leave the state for college. Some kids actually prefer it.
It happens in every state in the country. FSU has raided top talent from alabama, before them LSU and Florida did it. Alabama raids tennessee and georgia, before that we raided mississippi. Kids leave the home state all the time, sometimes it's just a preference. Most of these kids don't have the same pride in the home state school that fans on a message board do. There isn't always foul play behind the scenes, it just happens from time to time.
When all is said and done, most louisiana kids worth their salt end up at lsu, mississippi kids at ole miss or miss state, and alabama kids at bama or auburn

I have to agree with that. College is more than just football. It's not only just about education either, but the experiences that goes along with college life. That helps to create a well rounded person. A lot of kids choose to go out of state. Some because the school doesn't offer the program they want, and others because they want to experience being independent and do something on their own without their parents for the first time.
Sure, a lot of kids wouldn't have the opportunity to attend college without football. Those are by far the minority though, and of those they typically can pick or choose what school they want to attend.
I can't speak on HS coach influences as I have no idea. I'm sure it does happen, but I know I never saw it happening when I was in school.

Then they would be either liars or retards. Bama players are no better prepared for the NFL than kids from any of the BCS schools.
