Yeah, Monty and Dell are good at what they do. If they can't convince Gordon that NOLA is the place to be then they failed us more than Gordon imo.

Right. This wouldn't have turned into the clusterfrick it is now had Chris Broussard not apparently misreported a PR statement.
Broussard was an idiot for claiming he was getting some kind of exclusive. That doesn't change Gordon saying he wants to be in Phoenix.

So everyone is working me up over Broussard's comments, making me come out of the lurking status for what, a max offer??

Yup.

Did you see the video mac posted? I don't blame Gordon for being excited after that. They made him feel like he's the future LeBron or Kobe.

There's a very high probability that Gordon made his comments while in the moment with Phoenix trying to make him feel like Kobe
It was a prepared statement to an Arizona newspaper, it wasn't spur of the moment

Gordon, rivers, David nothing changes, just the financial situation. Willing to spend it, hoping not to. Now
We have to.

I'm really starting to convince myself that Gordon didn't receive a max offer from Indy or Houston and got desperate with PHX. He goes all in with them via comments and they make max offer.

Seriously, go look at mac's video. They rolled out an orange carpet and plastered "cornerstone" all over photos of him.

Small market teams don't turn into title contenders through free agency. They turn into title contenders through the draft and trades.

New Orleans is not a free agency destination currently.

Im sure he was excited but you're acting like the guy's a vegetable with mush for brains. Like he somehow has no clue whats going on right now or something. He's not a 6 year old at Toys r US.

He's a grown man. I take the guy at his word if he says he wants to play for Phoenix. Thats not some outrageous notion.

Now it's Dell and Monty's job to convince him otherwise.

I didn't say he doesn't want to, I'm just saying he probably feels great there right now because they're treating him like the best player in the NBA. Monty and Demps are going to now do their job and try to convince him that NOLA is better for him.

Here comes Stern anyway to say "NOT SO FAST, ERIC!"

Currently not, agree, but putting together a solid core, trying to make it a place where people want to play, where people see a future, that speaks volumes

That we can agree on.

I just don't think some morons banging balloons together had anything to do with him agreeing there.

He's been a star since he was a kid and had a pretty highly famous college recruitment. He's used to that stuff.

It could make a difference, though, in saying "I'd love to play for the Suns" and "my heart is in Phoenix."

I just think its insulting the guy's intelligence.

He's not an idiot. Its a $60 million decision he's making. If he chose Phoenix, its because he felt it was the right place for him to play basketball. Its not like he picked the Bobcats.

Folks cheering has much more of an affect on us than it does a guy who plays in front of 15,000 every night.

Agree with both. We are definitely in the right direction though. The Saints weren't a free agency destination before 2006, now look at them. Hopefully things work out the same way.

Is New Orleans THAT bad?

I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in that criminal city either. When is the last time we courted a big name free agent in basketball. Hell! If it wasn't for Drew Brees no one would want to come to the Saints either.

You just can't let him walk straight up. Gotta get something in return otherwise the hornets have egg on their faces.

If he can be swayed by one meeting in phoenix..enough for him to say his "heart" is there....then he is A) being immature or B) TE Suns are leaking info that he didn't say.

He must really hate Nola if he'd rather be in Phoenix going forward
