Anyone use this stuff much? I'm a complete convert. I can barely stand the idea of using any other rice with any dish. It's not that the jasmine rice has so much as a super special flavor, as much as it's flavor is good enough that I don't notice it. Compare to most rice that I consider to taste so bland that it takes away from the taste of the rest of the dish.
Tonight we had chili, absolutely wonderful over a bed of jasmine rice.

This is tough for a Louisiana kid to admit, but Jasmine rice is the only rice I use now.

The aroma is incredible and it's the only rice I'll use unless I'm making nigiri sushi because it's not sticky enough to hold together. Jasmine is able to span all sorts of cuisines from Indian to Creole to Asian to Jamaican, etc.

For an added dimension of color and flavor, drop a couple of saffron stigma into the rice cooker next time.

I've been on the jasmine for about 15 years. I tell everyone about it, but no one listens.

Enhances everything from jambalaya to gumbo. Doesn't do much for pastalaya, though.

Next time get a bag of Dynasty Jasmine Rice...

I thought this was about Basmati rice for a second and was going to recommend you try Royal Basmati

I just got a 20 lb or so bag not too long ago

Basmati > Jasmine

I've gotten to where I don't want to eat red beans unless I've got Basmati to go with them. It's a really fantastic combination in my view.

Agreed. Much more aromatic. I use Jasmine for fried rice but as far as a stand alone rice I prefer Basmati.

Try the Royal brand if you haven't tried it. My Persian friends turned me on to it and it's been my brand ever since.

Jazz Men is a local brand I've been getting, outstanding. Grown in Fenton by Jimmy Hoppe farms and pretty decent price.

They had it at Sam's on Loyola believe it or not, toward the back of the store.

I'd be shocked if they didn't also have it at the international market in metairie. I know they have several brands in big bags like that (probably even some bigger lol) but I didn't notice if they had Royal since I wasn't looking for it.

I've been basmati only for about 6 years. I too buy the huge bag of the Royal brand.

Available at Red Stick Farmer's Market and Fresh Pickins.

The Cajun Grain Brown Jasmine Grits are phenomenal.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm not knocking it. I guess when I think of something like jasmine or basmati I don't usually look for the cajun version of such.
