LC grad here. Class of 1990 with BA in Religious Education. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I assure you the LC players are Tiger fans and are overwhelmed to have the chance to play in Alex Box. I know we need all the D-1 experience we can get, but it warms my heart for those boys to get the chance to play LSU. I coached two of them up through high school.

I'd rather help out a program like UNO or something than this. At least UNO used to be good back in the day in baseball.

We haven't played Tech in baseball since 1998. I can't remember exactly what happened but Skip refused to schedule them anymore after our last trip to Ruston.

I can tell you two things simply from having started my college baseball career at LC and then transferring to Tech....the LC players are probably floored by this opportunity as I'm sure you all could expect. Most of them probably have some tie to LSU and remain loyal fans. As far as Tech, I highly doubt we live to see the day Tech plays LSU with coach Simoneaux at the helm. He has a deep disliking for LSU that stems from his playing days at Nicholls and earlier coaching career at ULL. I could see him receiving a call from LSU about playing a game and literally laughing at the offer.

I didn't realize Simoneaux was such a pussy/idiot. If he's really like that, then I hope we didn't call them to schedule a game. I'm not sure why any in-state school wouldn't want to play LSU. It's a win-win, especially if they can get a home game out of it. Only Tulane and ULL (and sometimes SELU) are usually expected to be competitive with LSU (in a manner of speaking), so if one of the other schools beats us, it's a big deal, but if they lose, who cares.

Most of the in-state schools are already coming down here for a game this season so I doubt they are going to want to come down here twice in one season. I did look at ULM (the one other in-state D1 we don't play) and they haven't had any rainouts. We could have played Southern or Grambling again I guess.

Towards the end of my post I was speaking more generally than just to this specific situation.
But I agree we could get Southern again, I don't think they ever have a full 56 going into the year. We should have a standing agreement with them and SELU about this, due to proximity.

Man why couldn't we have played LSU when I played there!? I mean we would have gotten our asses stomped but it would've been cool. I might have been pulling for them, too!

Exactly. That's why I posted the score from '94 (and the year either before or after was a 2-1 LSU win). Some of you are acting outraged that LSU has to share the field with LC. It's more fair to play LC in baseball than it is for LSU to play NSU or McNeese in football.

I assure you that I did no such thing.
There is no outrage from me, I just don't see the benefit of playing them if LSU could have gotten another team instead. If that's the best they could do, fine!
Overreact much?

The key part of my post was "some of you".
