Hmm. In theaters, probably Warrior.

Girl with dragon tattoo (was expecting it to suck)

John Carter
I wasn't expecting much and it was a really entertaining movie.

Act of Valor
Exceeded, mostly because the acting was bashed so much here, so I had real low expectations. The actors aren't gonna win any cinema awards (probably some military awards though), but it wasn't unwatchable like some people said.

Took my wife to This Means War and actually laughed out loud multiple times. Much better than I expected.

Looking forward to seeing this. Cinemablend is just going nuts over it, and I tend to trust their taste in film.

Tangled, because I got drug to that one by some relatives and had very low expectations.
Inception was the last one I expected to like and did. I just don't go to the theater much anymore.

The last movie I saw in theaters was John Carter. I had low expectations, and it definitely exceeded them, although that didn't make it a great movie.
The last movie that exceeded expectations that I actually thought was REALLY good was probably Hugo.
Arthur Christmas also exceeded and was pretty good.
Do you see a pattern here? When you have two 8 year old boys, these are the movies you see in the theater.
