..and I still picture Baldwin more as Animal Mother than Jayne, even though the characters are nearly identical.

Eightball: "Now you might not believe it but under fire Animal Mother is one of the finest human beings in the world. All he needs is somebody to throw hand grenades at him the rest of his life."

Animal Mother himself: "Flush out your head gear, new guy. You think we waste gooks for freedom? This is a slaughter. If I'm gonna get my balls blown off for a word...my word is 'poontang.'"

Exactly, as from Serenity:

quote:

Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: It's of interest to me how much you seem to know about that world.
Shepherd Book: I wasn't born a shepherd, Mal.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: You have to tell me about that sometime.
Shepherd Book: [pause] No, I don't.

I just finished watching it as well and I thought it was amazing. Glad I watched but mad at the same time because I knew it was so short.

I watched the movie too which I thought was alright. Seemed very rushed to me, but I guess that is understandable.

I see a shitload of similarities between Firefly and Starhunter (& Starhunter 2300).

The Starhunter series is based on a group who fly around chartered space working as bounty hunters.

started watching this Monday based on this board's recommendation...

first 15 minutes: "The frick? this show is mehh...i really don't get the fascination of the Movie/TV Board"

4 episodes later: "YEhhh....i'm addicted. How could this have only lasted 1 season?"

after the first 15 minutes i didn't think i'd even make it to the 2nd episode, but it really picks up. every episode is action packed, but not repetitive at all. I'm really enjoying the growth of the characters too. Certainly a different approach for a tv series, but I'm throuroughly enjoying it

I finished the 14th episode, followed by Serentiy last night.

A shame it only lasted the one season, especially with no good hard-core sci-fi shows currently on.

the thing that i loved most about this series is every episode was basically like a movie there was no repetitiveness. it's a shame we didn't get to see the character development that had begun especially with book's backstory and river's potential

I wondered about this part too, but Book's relation with the Alliance is never really given.

I need to start buying again, I checked Demonid and found a file with every Whedon Graphic Novel (4.5GBs) and downloaded it right after I posted earlier, and just checked and I have it.

Will read them on my touchpad.

Wait until "Out of Air" and "Objects in Space." Two of the best episodes of any show ever.

I wanted one episode that dealt with the Alliance history.

Basically on Earth That Was, the only two powers to survive the using up of the earths resources was America and China. They formed the alliance to send humanity out into space to colonize new territory. Earth was no longer suitable for massive amount of people on the planet.

This is why there is a combination of the US and Chinese flags. If you watch the entire series and Serenity, they explain it pretty well.

one of the best lines occurs 'offscreen' and most people miss it:

"If the snow on the roof is too heavy, you see, the ceiling will cave in. His brains are in terrible danger. "

i missed the line the first 3x i watched firefly so it was 10x funnier when i finally realized what she was saying.

first off.....frick you guys.

i am heartbroken. firefly is one of the greatest tv series i've ever seen. action, storyline, character development, witty dialogue, decent actors.

The last episode with the assassin was sooo good. I really thought that bitch was the ship for a minute or two. Ultimate gotcha by Rivers and Mal. Dumbass brother almost foiled it.

The movie was really good too. Glad they explained the Reavers situation. Because from the series it seemed weird that they just went to the edge of the universe and flipped out. something had to happen.

I has a sad Shepherd died. Wanted to know more about his character and past. Sad Walsh died as well. And when the hell does the Companion and Mal get it on?

can't believe i doubted the movie/tv board the first 15 minutes of the first episode
