Those old defensive players would be interesting, but would get flagged for being too tough/mean....defenseless receivers: Jack Tatum, Mike Curtis....blows to the head, roughing the passer, etc.

Thats so true.
Old school guys would be suspended after every game they played
Nut shots, head slaps, helmet to helmet, etc.
Those old school guys were certainly not pussies.

Martin Gramática.
Barry sanders a close second.

Earl Campbell. He was impressive and damn imposing for the Oilers of the late 70s

Jim Brown, and it's not even close. I loved Barry, I got to see the best of Montana, I look back fondly on memories of Bo and Herschel, but I know what they were capable of doing; what I would really like is an honest to goodness eyewitness opportunity to see Jim Brown play.
The man is a legend across multiple sports, and completely owned the league while he played. I would want my curiosity satisfied as to whether he was the prototype, or a truly aberrant talent that would have dominated any era.

I want to see Elway again and how he stacks up to Brady, Manning, Brees, and Rodgers in today's game

He doesn't. Next.

I would like to see how many fines Jack Tatum would accumulate. Or Ronnie Lott. Back when safeties were allowed to hit people.

My choices are:
Jim Brown
Johnny Unitas (I got to watch him in the twilight of his career, but wish could've watched more.)
Sammy Baugh
George Blanda (Same as Unitas.)
Frank Gifford
Raymond Berry
Charlie Hennigan (AFL star)
The best era of football in my lifetime was the late 60’s and 70’s. For some of you youngsters, you haven’t seen real defense if you didn’t get to watch Jack Lambert, Jack Tatum, Randy White, Willie Brown, Jake Scott, Dick Butkus, Ted Hendricks, Jack Youngblood, L.C. Greenwood, Joe Green, Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, Cliff Harris…

i havent read the thread, but ild go for LT and its not even close for me. but i did grow up a huge giants fan and LT was always my favorite player.

Damn, a lot of teeny-boppers on here who didn't see Barry Sanders or LT play.
Sanders was amazing but I'd rather reincarnate a player I never got to see but which old timers rave about.
I'd go with Bambi or Sayers.
