Surprise, surprise.
Bama gets another 6-3, 240 pound LB in Devall, we get another sure-tackler in Debo with 4.4 speed & ball swarming awareness.
Bama's lack of elite lateral speed at LB is one of the factors in why we beat them at their house. Speed kills.

That's a really good point. The Tigers' success with the option wasn't because it caught Bama unprepared; it was because LSU executed better and Bama didn't have the speed to make the plays. They defended well on the Ford run from a scheme standpoint, just not talented enough to make the stop.

Good luck to the kid. He obviously wanted to play in a 3-4. The quote was a dick move, but he's just a kid. I said worse at that age. Wish him well.

So Devall committed to a team with 2 Inside linebackers in the top 10 in the nation already committed.
Good call, good luck seeing the field.

Well...based on those quotes he made, I can't wish him luck at all. Can't wait to see someone like Kenny Hilliard bust a big run, fly out of bounds and lower his shoulder under Devall's chin, who will undoubtedly be riding the pine on the bench when it happens.

Devall will be a scout team warrior and maybe play as a senior.

This makes 5 4* LBs for Bama in this recruiting class...can't say these guys are afraid of competition.

Actually Devall made some remarks about not seeing early playing time at LSU. The comments referenced Mingo and Montgomery being really good young players, and how Rasco hasn't really seen the field that much as a freshman. LSU would have played him at DE probably, so he just wasn't a fit here and probably figures he has a LB position to compete for in the 3-4 against recruits versus trying to unseat established guys off a nasty LSU D.

In my opinion, all traitors are Tigerbait.

Does it really matter? $abun will just choose who he wants and discard the others playing careers without blinking an eye.
IMO @ LSU he would have rotated into spots even if it were not at LB.
It was his choice...he made it ...good luck to him.

no biggie, i think frank and our staff does a better job of evaluating talent. we got guys to fit our scheme and bama is getting guys to fit theirs.
There hasn't been one louisiana recruit that has gone out of state and hurt us since miles has been here. That says something.
This kid was never in the mix, he and his father took shots at lsu. so be it. hope it works for them. lsu will be fine.

This is what I took from the quotes.
1st) he is a Saban fan, not a BAMA or LSU fan
2nd) he thinks he personally has fans
Kid has some maturing to do. Good luck at BAMA, you will need it.

Prolly a solid move for him. His style prolly fits their system better than most.

Any recruit that looks at Bama or LSU's depth chart and sees an easy way to the field are kidding themselves. If you have talent, and I mean the type of talent that you can play as a true freshman in the SEC, then the depth chart won't factor in anyway. Example, Kenny Hilliard. We have running backs, tons of them. However, Kenny's talent and hard work got him playing time despite the talent ahead of him.
If Devall thinks he has a easy path to playing time at Bama over LSU, he is fooling himself and vice versa. If he has elite skills, he'll see the field at either location. If he doesn't, he'll redshirt and have to prove himself at either location.

It's not that he didn't choose LSU, it's that he chose Bama & Saban

He was invisible in the Ruston game as well, which is what I reported. He's a generous 6'2 230 and NOT at MLB, at least not in our scheme. If I had not been looking for him I would have had no clue he was big time. How can the number 2 player in the state be no where to be found any time Bastrop plays a decent team... here's how, he's overrated and playing out of position. Now thats not to say he isn't a good student and athlete, he is, just not a MLB. At LSU he would be a DE and special teams guy for a while, so yes, going to Bama is most likely a better place for him where I imagine he will play OLB. Does it suck that he's leaving the state, sure, but when you really break it down its not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things and nothing to get worked up over. I wish him well except when he plays LSU, then he's Tiger Bait!!!
