huge rivalry game tomorrow night
Captain Shreve v. Byrd
Shreve is 4-4 (1-2) and coming off a 27-13 loss to Haughton
Byrd is 7-0 (3-0) and mowed down Southwood last week 49-8
should be a fricking beat down

Not really. Head-to-head only matters if 2 teams have a tied Power Ranking at the season's end. STM has a higher Power Ranking because their opponents have won 46 games versus 41 for Breaux Bridge. Also, STM played against 4 5A schools while BB played against 3. Both of those factors put STM over BB.

The Power Rankings that ChalmetteOwl posted are from Ken Ramsey's website. Here is a screenshot of my spreadsheet that calculates the rankings in the same manner that the LHSAA uses. Really, there is no right or wrong version because Ken's figures end up getting to where the LHSAA is by the playoffs. There are just 2 ways to get to the same numbers by the end of week 10.
A team in blue text signifies that they moved up in the Power Rankings order from the prior week. Red means a move downward. Black is used for teams that are in the exact same numerical position from week 7.

yeah ken's are more accurate
ken gives you all the points from wins that every team on your schedule has gotten so far
the LHSAA website doesn't give you the points for teams you haven't played yet

True...there are quirks to both. Last year I kept up both in my spreadsheet but decided to go with solely the LHSAA this year. I like to see where the rankings are per the LHSAA's official "unofficial" system.

Martin plays Greensboro, Alabama Friday at Pan American, 3:30.
Need a big bounce after Jesuit simply whipped the Crusaders in every way. 8 Cobbins, for JHS is big, fast, strong, what a great player. QB has a great ball, hits his receiver in stride, who are very fast, too.
We're higher in power points than last week.
Playoffs this week would have us rematch with Higgins, who we can definitely play with, and a win would have us taking on Rummel v. Hahnville winner. Interesting Rummel twice in two weeks.
It's hypothetical and will change, but still in all.

Not so fast my friend; These rankings will change a good bit in the last 2 weeks. I wrote Hahnville completely off after week 5 but they are playing much better and have all the injured guys back finally. Had the coaches not given the ESJ game away 2 weeks ago they would be in good shape. Found it funny that the Jays ripped Bro Mart so easily, saw them against Hahnville and was not that impressed with their talent.

How's this team looking this year? Overrated like recent years...or are they actually going to contend for the state championship?
they are a solid top 10 team in 5A but not #1. Acadiana had them beat in the dome, but ended up shooting themselves in the foot the entire 2nd half. Think I read acadiana lost about 5 turnovers in the 2nd half and st.pauls came back to beat them 15-14

so that makes it a good game?
lol
Rummel and Jesuit havent played any great teams, then again there are no great teams in 5A.
both are undefeated and both are long time rivals. The game wont be a blowout, thats for sure.
Posted on 10/26/11 at 6:41 pm to Lester Earl
5A is wide open. Any of these top teams could get hot and make a run. There are no dominant teams as in the past. There are many good teams but nobody is unbeatable.
