We had a great tailgate next to the stadium on the top of a parking garage right across the street from that bar. I've been told that the garage has been torn down, but we're supposed to still have a great spot.

Get ready to hear Rocky Top 10,000,000 times before the game. Gets quiet after we win though.

Knoxville is a dump and Ut's campus is ugly as hell (think middleton/locket buildings everywhere with very few tress), but the stadium on the river with the mountains in the back drop is really nice. Neyland has gotten a major face lift and looks 100x better on the outside than it used to, but like everyone has said, the seats are very narrow.

Check out the Vol navy on the river for tailgating since thats about all they have.

Vol fans arent mean or nice.... they're pretty reserved and don't say much for the most part, but the atmposphere in Neyland is pretty cool. The running through the Tennessee "T" is one of the best traditions out there IMO.

also wear sunglasses or you will be blinded by the sun reflecting off of all that neon orange.

Lived in Knoxville during residency. Calhouns is ok, the river view is nice but the food is just kind of meh. Downtown Grill and Brewery I think has much better food and atmosphere...and their microbrewery is incredible.

Tailgating is ok, nothing to write home about. The problem with UTK is everything is spaced out, there's no real "tailgating" area, plus the fans don't really interact like we do, they just do their own thing. If you're looking for a rowdier

If you're looking for a rowdier crowd, any of the parking lots behind the businesses along Cumberland ave near the stadium will be as close to what you are used to as far as tailgating in Baton Rouge, but get there early.

Seats in the stadium suck...literally like 9" per seat!

Enjoy the trip, if you have any questions will be more than happy to help you guys out!

Been there about 10 times (dated a Vol for 4 years). Nice town...shitty stadium. Calhouns is a must. Avoid the "strip" and go to Old City (much better crowd). Tailgating is lame. I always go to Calhouns pre-game. Overall, great time but prepare to be uncomfortable for 4 hours cramped in those ridiculous seats.

We're probably bringing our tailgate so we don't have to deal with the lameness that is UT tailgating...

Speaking of this, where do most Tiger fans typically tailgate?

Old City is cool, but not on game day, too far from campus ....there's an English pub there that's got a great atmosphere and good food is your looking for something on Friday. Again, not sure why everyone is so hot on Calhouns, the food is average and the restraunt itself is nothing special, other than the fact it's on the river

stadium is a complete dump....seats are for narrow assed midgets...but the city is very nice...highly recommend a trip to american museum of science and energy in oak ridge if you have time...it offers a detailed history of the manhatten project
