Why is there no talk about bringing them into the SEC?

Waco media market. Their national following will die as soon as they have back to back mediocre years.

TCU is in Fort Worth, Tx. Baylor resides in Waco.

It's not in Waco, it's in Fort Worth, and they really don't have much of a market share there anyway, so it might as well be in Waco.
TCU doesn't deliver anything Aggy can't.

I live in Dallas, and no one but Alumni watch TCU here.... they bring nothing in the way of TV market.... A&M alums in Dallas WAY outnumber TCU....

Texas and A&M own the entire Texas media market. Tech is a distant but respectable third.

I wouldn't be surprised if OK was third.

for the same reason that no one talked about the J. Giles Band after "Centerfold" and "freeze Frame"; they are a one/two hit wonder and about to slip back into place. see this season and anything before 2008

Wouldnt mind this. They seem to have some what of a history. Claiming two championships in the 30's.
Being in the SEC would probably keep them in the top 25 on a consistent basis.

Adding them would really not be that crazy of an idea. They've won 10+ games seven times in the last decade, have invested millions to overhaul their facilities and they do have a decent history. Personally I think they deserve a stronger look than Mizzou or WVU. Unfortunately, I think this perception of them as a nice little non-AQ program that will fall back to earth soon dooms their serious consideration.

Their stadium holds about 35,000 and when they start losing more games b/c they're in the SEC, no one except visitors would show up. No one in Texas follows them except alumni which isn't that large.

Two large state universities vs. small private one?

From 1960-1991 when they were in the SWC with Arkansas they won 0 conf. titles and made it to 2 lower tier bowl games during that time frame.
Great History

Using how many conference title won in the last 20-30 years is the last stat I would think an Arkansas supporter would use to justify belonging in a BCS conference.
I selfishly would love to see TCU in the SEC, but I do not know that they are a better fit than Missouri or WVU.
TCU is small school that has committed to spending money on sports. TCU spent more money on football last year than all but 5-8 schools in division 1 football. I don't have the like to support that stat handy, but that spending is documented.
Yes, all the points made about small alumni and their ability to "deliver" a market are correct. The problem with TCU and not being able to deliver the DFW market for the SEC is two fold: they only have roughly 70K living alumni, annual enrollment is around 7-8K, and they have a lot of competition for a fan's sports spending. We have the Cowboys, the Rangers, the Stars, 3 minor league baseball teams, a minor league hockey teams, and SMU all competing for the same sports fans. This leads to far fewer casual fans than Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, or Knoxville, who has very little competition for your big sports supporters.
I would think having LSU, Georgia, or Arkansas playing in the stadium every other year would draw more casual fans and help grow support for the team.
I would love to see it, but I think TCU in the SEC is nothing more than a pipedream.

yea they sucked for those years when their admin didn't seem to care. But before then they did win 2 MNCs in the 30s and they also produced players like Sammy Baugh, Davey O'Brien, Jim Swink and Bob Lilly.
