I would love the service academies to get into BCS conferences...

Navy and Air force are better in football than cuse and pitt.

By the time this is done the geographical names of these conferences will be pointless...
Colorado and Texas schools in the Big East.
Already Colorado and potential of Texas and Oklahoma in the PAC[ific]-12.
I am waiting for Hawaii or Alaska to get invited to the ACC.

For Air Force, the two time zones would be a pain in the arse. Same with Texas/OU to the Pac 12.

Smart move by the BE to go after the service academies. No way they lose their BCS bid if they get them in to the fold. I can't imagine there is a single conference commish that would be willing to go in front of congress and explain why the screwed the service academies out of money.

Should go further out and try for San Diego State to the Big East. And why not Hawaii while they're at it?

University of Alaska-Fairbanks to the ACC

This needs to happen:
SEC -> Navy
ACC -> Army
PAC -> Air Force
Take a little pressure off the conferences from Congress. Buy some national good will, help out our federally funded Universities with revenue. Solidify the plan for superconferences and playoff scenario.
Make it happen.

Does the Big East plan on eventually having a conference championship game?
I seem to recall one of the reasons Army left CUSA was because the weekend the championship game is played is the same weekend the Army vs. Navy game is traditionally played, and they didn't want to change that.
Could that cause problems again?
ETA: correction, just Army was in CUSA.

Gonna be some long bus rides from Colorado Springs for those minor sports.

Last year, and maybe the year before that Army Navy was played the Saturday after the big conference championship games. I think it had to be moved due to so many CCGs and major networks covering them, so there was no place for Army-Navy to get an uncontested place on the air.

CBS has them under contract thur 2018, but you might be right tends to get lost in the shuffle on conference championship day

Likewise. Seems like a smart move to me.

Why wouldn't the Big East add Army before Air Force? They're already in NY
Posted on 9/23/11 at 10:54 am to TigerintheNO
now that they established the precedent of playing the week after, if they ever make it to a CCG (which they won't, ever), they can play that game and play army/navy the week after
i do think it's unfair to put regular dudes who happen to make it to an academy up against 3/4/5 stars every week. i'd rather drop them to where they belong in D3 where they may be able to win again
