Question for DIRECTV Customers

with an HD receiver.
Do you find that your box's response to commands to the remote is incredibly slow?
Sometimes, when I press Guide, it takes 5-7 seconds to pull the guide up. Also, when I select a channel, it sometimes takes 2-4 seconds of black screen before the picture & sound come up.
Anyone else have this problem, and have any suggestions?

Yes and No suggestions. Tried several things to no avail. FWIW I still prefer them over Cox or DishNetwork

I do notice it sometimes, but usually after about 5 seconds it catches back up.

my DVR box is slow, my regular HD box is fast

When I had directv I had this problem. It got progressively worse.

directv hd dvr is pretty crappy. I have older and newer and they both do that.

i have the same problem from time to time. very frustrating and i haven't found a solution yet

If it's an H/HR-21/22/23 it's gonna be slow. If H/HR-24, it'll be less slow.

honestly, the battery life makes a big difference... change them and see if it improves.
Also, is your remote set to infra red or RF?

My HD DVR box is really slow most of the time. It's annoying enough that I may get rid of Directv.

I find that if mine is doing this (never as slow as the OP describes though) that if I make sure to turn off the box for the night and not just my TV it is better the next day.

I've noticed it happening more a lot more lately. I almost wonder if a update didn't cause this to happen. I don't remember it being this bad years ago. I also wonder if doing a drive self test might fix the problem.

I've never had this issue, but a friend of mine with a newer receiver than I have complains about it all the time. He has the HD/DVR box and mine is just HD.
