While I enjoy your confidence, you act as if Oregon does not have any athletes.

They only return 11 starters from last years team not even counting their best CB who is suspended, so they will have less than half the guys that started for them against Auburn for this game.

Our track record and scoreboard OOC is pretty good, no ?
Oregon has SUBSTANTIAL leadership loss off last year's dominant team.
We think we have rare depth (we'll see), even for an LSU team.
Why wouldn't we be confident?
LSU has had so many of these big games in the last decade.
Our guys come here to play in them.
And if we lose to a better team, so be it.
Healthy respect and confidence is what I sense.

Because mostly games are won up front where lsu has the clear advantage. Oregon possesses speed but so does lsu. Interesting note: the past 3 major non conf games for Oregon have been losses: 09 against Boise, 09 Rose bowl, and 10 MNC game. Meanwhile lsu is 33-1 in non conf games under CLM.

Pretty much all negative energy concerning the game leaves me the monday before opening day. It is at this point I have convinced myself LSU will beat any team they are to play. I stop analyzing and ignore stats and pretty much just move onto looking at highlights or listening to the GBFTL.

Then when game day comes I drink until i am obnoxious and to the point where neither me nor my team is touchable. Not until after things go south do I fall into a drunken depression as there is to that point, absolutely no reason to

i haven't read the thread, but my take o nthe rest of the rant is this:

LSU fans think our talent is better than anyone else's in the country and it isn't even close.

therefore, if we ever perform badly or lose a game it is due to sub-standard coaching.

it's a semi retarded way of thinking, but it is everywhere.

Also the pac12 might be the most underrated conference

this, in essence, is the key to the game.

because we're undefeated and it's real easy to pick wins and losses in August. Then the war starts and everything goes out the window and you remember that nothing ever happens the way you thought it would in August.

It's much more fun to be optimistic. There's not much else the typical fan can do other than just assume we are going to dominate in every game.

It's gotten easier to be super confident since I left school. I don't feel as devastated if I am wrong these days, and have no qualms with continuing the ever optimistic mindset. Plus I just kill anyone who calls me out for my over-confident trash talking backfire

I'm not. I think LSU drops this game. Not because of all the distractions, but because Chavis is terrible vs. Spread offenses. I dont think the defense is going to have enough stops.

I respect your opinion Prom, but really think our front 4 on defense will disrupt their offense a great deal IF our ends can play with discipline. Watching that Fishduck dude's videos, you notice a trend, if you aren't disciplined, that will break long runs.

im confident that we have more talent than then

however i dont have much confidence in Les Miles

i do think his teams play well in most games when he has a lot of time to prepare. So that bodes well for the Tigers going into this matchup.

My biggest concern for this team all year will be whether the O-line will hold up. If you want to talk about a passing offense, it starts most importantly with the guys up front.

I can't think of a more striking example of this than by comparing the '09 Saints v. '10 Saints. Drew Brees looked like one of the greatest QBs in NFL history in 2009. He had sick amounts of time to throw and a very good running game to fall back on. In 2010, the running game evaporated as well as his time in the pocket. Brees was pretty pedestrian last year.

It all starts with the offensive line. If our guys can give Lee time to throw, he will look good and, thus, our receivers and RBs will look good. If not, look for a repeat for 2009/2010.

I think OU will have no trouble running on us.
