Something doesn't add up with his story. How did Cal get involved then?

I'm getting to the point in which I would bet money that LSU is going to get major probation for dealing with this guy.

we took advantage of a loophole.

The NCAA has concluded their inquiry into the Lyles situation as far as LSU is concerned. They are now talking to him about Oregon.
Shep paid a steep price for talking to Poppa Loston regarding his discussion with the NCAA, but they've moved on. If the NCAA would've found anything, they would've done something regarding Shep's eligibility right then and there. Instead, we found out he broke NCAA rules and discussed the nature of the discussion with Loston, & that's why he's ineligible.
You do not do that & get away with it.

Where do you get this information?
It is also rumored that the NCAA wants to suspend RS for the year, but LSU is pushing for 6 games. That sounds a little more serious than talking to another player.

lyles is obviously a douche bag.
he's lost his cash cow and wants to take some folks down with him.
he's a liar. if he can't come up with some real violations, it's over with lyles.

This NOTHING. You would have to believe lyles has some relationship with Z.M. and had some influence on him. this is nothing.
oregon, he had relationship with james, thomas, seastrunk, ect. they paid big time and they went to oregon.

well, let's not act like we don't have anyone on our roster with ties to lyles.
trevon randle is one i believe.
not trying to dig up any dirt, but who knows if we're entirely clean in this whole mess.

Sounds like he's getting off easy compared to Dez Bryant.
Dez Bryant didn't break NCAA rules by being at Deion Sanders' house. Dez Bryant broke NCAA rules by lying to the NCAA about it.
From everything I've heard, LSU's been above board with the Lyles deal. But, you don't try to get over on the NCAA like a Dez Bryant-or, unfortunatley, like a Russel Shepard-did.
You will go down faster than my junior prom date.
Do not F with the NCAA.

Where do these bunk rumors come from?

I know for many this is just a waste of my time, but the basic problem is that as a non-governmental org, they are really limited in their investigations and depend greatly on the participants to follow the procedural rules. From their perspective, discussing an interview with another interview target is a biggie. It smacks of colusion and indicates an intent to deceive.
I think it's apparent Shep just had his head up his arse and didn't think he was doing anything wrong as he was the one who told the NCAA during his interview about it. Miles has said it was an innocent act, and I believe him, but the NCAA can't ignore this.
