As someone who has never, and will never, read the books, I've enjoyed the movies immensely. I skipped out on them at first because "they were kids movies." But once I watched the first one, I was hooked. And I've liked them all since. The one before the last one (Half Blood Prince, I guess) is the second-best of the series IMO...so the movies have maintained a high quality throughout the entire series, which is very impressive.
From a pure entertainment perspective (and again, sans reading the books), the HP series has been awesome.

I did this for movies 4 and 5 and was so disappointed in the movies. Now I rewatch the movies leading up to the release of the new ones so that my mind is fresh with the movie plots and not the book plots.

As has Potter, in general. And there are many legitimate criticisms of the LOTR movies...
BTW, you do realize that the LOTR novels and the HP novels are written in COMPLETELY different manners, right?

The biggest thing about the movies for me is that they can never, ever reach my expectations. Having read the books, I really try not to get too hyped for the movies but it's impossible. I've done it for every movie so far, and this one won't be any different. That being said, the adaptations are pretty damn solid and are far superior to other franchises/book series (read: Angels & Demons)

Currently at 100% on RT, all the critics very much agreeing that it is likely the best installment of the series or a close second to Azkaban. Can't wait

I think the movies do a nice job; it isn't easy to make a good movie. Are the books much better? Of course. I feel like #3 was by far the best movie but I have enjoyed them all.

One review said it is oscar worthy. NOt getting my hopes THAT high up, but since the critic is known for giving most films a B I'm glad to see he actually made his mind up about something

I hated the fact that there were no house elves in Goblet of FIre.
