I've never been but I've always heard that the steaks are good for the price.

Yes, it is good grub. Very good value.

They best deal is the filet po-boy. Comes with a side of crazy mashed potatos for something like $7.

Also for $2 you can get barb-que shrimp sauce and bread to dip it in.
Suprisingly good gumbo and stuffed artichoke too.

The regular steaks are ok, but for the price it is hard to beat it.

It's a good value, the filet poboy is in my normal lunch rotation.

Also, assuming they still do, is there any other place that still gives you a crab apple as a side/accompaniment/garnish (shite, I don't know what to call it exactly)?

Always loved that about them.

Like everyone else says, a good deal. Not worth it to spring for the extra $2 for the "prestige" cuts IMO. I enjoy the ambience too. I like to show up a little early to get a bourtbon and play some video poker -- a more authentically Metairie experience I can't imagine.

How about having a nitecap at the Ski Lodge afterward?

Not sure about Crazy Johnnys, but the normal version is to die for.

I hate that this is only on their weekday lunch menu.

I wonder if they have a "Crazy Chicken Cutlet" or something.

Go here and not the freaking Outback nearby.

Thanks everyone- not my first choice, but mother in law's bday, and she wants a cheap steak.
