Quickly now . . . I'm going with a solid Oregon win for two reasons. I don't think any team in the country is going to be able to stand up to our defense in Week One. Secondly, while the offense may not have its best game, there's more than enough talent, experienced talent, and versatility, to ensure that we get the points we'll need.

I love this, he has nothing to back up his claim.

I don't know. I think we acknowledge the things Oregon does well and have great respect for James and Thomas and their stud CB whose name escapes me right now. We've never accused them of being slow. Most of us are optimistic because of all the linemen they must replace on both sides of the ball.

*Most* of you do, yes... just like *most* of us Duck fans wouldn't say the nonsense that has been quoted in the first post.

Yea... sorry but, you're not paying attention.

Agreed. That one was just too good to pass up. It wasn't to try to blanket the entire Oregon fanbase, fwiw.

Also getting experience.... I really don't get how you and others assume we didn't get experience because if you watched us at all last year (which judging by that last sentence you clearly didn't), you'd see that we frequently subbed underclassmen on both sides of the ball and many of those "inexperienced" starters got plenty of reps last year in significant points in the game....

Having said that, I do agree with many here that point out the ridiculousness of those comments by the guy trying to compare you guys to the 2009 Boise State team, say you guys aren't deep/very good on defense, etc.

Granted you got some players in there to get a little experience. I'm talking as an overall unit LSU has more experience then Oregon. We lost only a few people on defense and almost no one on offense.

If you think about it their best defensive player is a 5'10 inch CB. Not saying he inst a good player but unless he can jump like a gazelle he will be in for a long night. Even with JJ not playing his best game.

False. Harris will shutdown whoever he’s on. He’s an elite, top 15 draft pick type of CB. We don’t have that kind of WR nor do we have a QB who can get him the ball. CB play is about hips not height.

If you look at the teams then, not being a homer, you would pick LSU to win. Oregon has much to replace, and LSU just has to get its QB going.

And replace our best defensive player at all three levels? And develop an actual college WR corps (I'm not talking about HS receiver ratings)? And learn a new offensive system?

Yes they are faster, and their offense is scary. However, we have speed of our own. We have the size and strength to knock them around similar to Auburn. LSU is in a better position right now, but Oregon has the fall back that if they lose "They were young" but if they win "Speed kills".

I love how people say Auburn tossed Oregon around. Oregon was 3-4 horrible throws by Thomas away from busting that game wide open (Auburn was the same way with Newton, neither QBs played well but I'm not talking about their defense). Had Thomas not had one of his worst games as a QB (and it wasn't because he was constantly pressured, Auburn actually didn't blitz much) then Oregon wins that game easily.

This game will be sooooo much closer than LSU fans think.

Troy Hill looks to be Harris 2.0. Since '08 Coach Neal has put Ward, Thurmond, Bryd and Chung in the league with all of the starting for their teams. These were 3 2* guys and a walk on that equals 4 starters in the league, one probowler and a guy who led all rookies in tackles. Conversely, our three deep in the secondary is the best collection of talent we have assembled. It makes me giddy and should be a concern for the LSU faithful when he goes back to throw.

I love how people think Auburn didn't dominate both lines all game. Cam finally came down from Tebow level and played like a normal person, and the game was close.

Yeah drake was our best D-lineman, but this is LSU an each year another person steps up and plays equally as good as last years star. D-line is better this year as a whole then it was last year. Linebackers have always sucked at LSU since Miles took over. We've had some good ones, but never the Bradie James's that Saban got us. Losing Shep will hurt a lot, but we should be healthier an have more depth now.

An I never said we would destory them. I don't think we win by more then 10. It'll be close, but I think our experience, strength and size win it.

Yes yal have serious DB depth. It's funny, however, in that so does LSU but neither offense will be primarily attacking the other's strength.

That pretty much sums up the Jordan Jefferson era, irrespective of the talent in Oregon's secondary.

I like Chung a lot, but he is a lot better against the run then the pass. He was getting torched when lined up against WRs.
