Excactly. Even if you hate LOST, hate the writing as the show went on, just hate the writers for talking out their asses, or hate all the unanswered questions...you can't say it wasn't intriguing TV, didnt have great acting, a huge scope, and a huge pop culture impact. To say 24 qualifies, and then shite on LOST is just dumb.

I'll never understand all the love that Seinfeld gets. It's decent, but it's also the most overrated show of all-time IMO.

I'm one of those people. A bunch will say it's the best but many don't really even like it. I don't get the hype I watched it and it's just not my type of show.

LOST isn't even in the top 100

Any person with half a brain knows it's indispuatably in the top 100. It may be the most ambitious show in history and completely changed the sci fi genre. Plus the season 3 finale, the pilot, walkabout, and the final 10 minutes alone justify this. Dumb post.

I can't believe that "All in the Family" hasn't gotten any love.

Best as in pure quality: The Wire

Best as in my favorite shows to watch: LOST and Battlestar Galactica

Don't think I saw it listed but arrested development trumps everything listed here including the wire.

I would say it makes the top 100 but that is a fairly low bar (it would probably make the 20's-30's for me personally). That said, I don't see how an adventure serial is the most ambitious show ever and am not sure how it completely changed (or changed at all) the sci fi genre.

Come on. We go into a nice lull and then you make a comment like this that just begs for a response?

Really it was ambitious on scope and production, and there have been a ridiculous number of shows, particullarly in the Sci-fi genre, that have tried to capitalize in the same ways LOST did. None of them have really worked though.

This.

It wasn't ambitious at all, it was intriguing yes, and wildly successful because of the mystery, but there have been way more ambitious shows.

I'd say at it's time, BSG was far more ambitious than Lost.

And Lost hasn't changed the sci-fi genre. Spawning a bunch of low-rent copies does not make it influential.

Same here. It's ok, but there are many times I'll watch an entire episode and not laugh.

My favorite show of all time is the Office, esp the first few seasons.

They certainly had a huge budget and huge case and it did spawn a bunch of half assed clones. I am not sure budget alone would qualify alone for "most ambitious show in history." The Lost clones biggest problems have been that they thought Lost was a Sci Fi show (it really wasn't especially during the shows high point in terms of popularity in season 1). It is a fairly old school but big budget adventure serial.
