there really is not 1 bad episode

There are definitely a few, but Seinfeld is still my answer. It's been my favorite show ever since I first started watching it in middle school and always will be.

Rounding out my top 3 of favorite shows are LOST and Arrested Development, but those don't take the title simply because of the rewatchability factor. A random person couldn't sit down and watch an episode of LOST without being, well, lost if they didn't know the storyline. And it's 45 minutes. AD can skate by because it's funny as shite, but it still requires a good bit of knowledge of the backstory.

With seinfeld, someone who has never seen an episode can sit down and watch any random episode from any season and laugh their arse off.

If the Simpsons ended in the late 90s it could make a serious case. But each passing year it just tarnishes its legacy even more. The utter garbage that's been put out this decade is almost painful to watch. Up until season 8 or 9ish (I'm not a simpsons "buff" so I don't know the exact year range) the Simpsons was absolute money every episode. Side splitting stuff. Then it just steadily declined and is still going.

I havent seen an episode of the simpson in long time, I stopped watching right around 8 or 9 as well. Tried watching the past few on Sundays and have to agree...hard to watch.

I would also have to put the original 4 seasons of Futurama up there also.

Actually, I retract my previous statement. Sesame Street's 118 Emmy Awards laughs at this question.

I'm a HUGE Lost fan and its not Lost. Too many plot holes, however character development was flawless. My vote would go for The Simpsons

Don't give 24 an honorable mention in the "Best TV Show of All Time" category and then break Lost's balls.

Neither of them are even close to this discussion.

Personally, I haven't watched a television series on a regular basis since MASH and the original Saturday Night Live. (I even saw all the original Star Trek episodes when first broadcast.) I now catch reruns from time to time of just about everything mentioned by the previous posters on this thread and while I think The Simpsons may be the answer, I prefer Seinfeld. I agree with whoever posted that you can watch any episode from any season at random for the first time and still laugh your arse off.
