Steak n' Shake coming to BR

Steak ‘n Shake, the Midwestern chain famous for its hamburgers and shakes, plans to open seven restaurants in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Bob Franke, senior vice president of franchise development for Steak ‘n Shake, says an agreement has been reached with a local franchise group to build the locations. This is part of an aggressive push by Steak ‘n Shake to open 1,000 new restaurants in the next couple of years. Franke says the local franchisees are eyeing stand-alone locations and restaurants inside strip shopping centers. Indianapolis-based Steak ‘n Shake has nearly 500 restaurants but none in Louisiana. Franke says the plan is to open the chain’s first Louisiana restaurant by the fall.

Steak n' Shake should fit in well in the paradise of BR chain restaurants.

I didn't that was a kinda of franchise that opened new locations...I just figured they would be extinct sooner rather than later...

Is this place any good? Sounds like a good way to get diarrhea.

Is really good for a chain. I love the burgers, fries and shakes. I haven't eaten fast food in like four years, but I will inhale a triple cheese, fries and chocolate shake.

Let me take out the SUNSHINE and add a little REALITY:
Steak ‘n Shake, the moderately successful Midwestern chain with minimal brand awareness and zero brand loyalty outside it's core area for its hamburgers and shakes, has contractually obligated it's sucker franchisee to open seven restaurants in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, which would be suicidal for the aforementioned franchisee. Bob Franke, senior vice president of franchise development for Steak ‘n Shake, who has ZERO skin in the game, says an agreement has been reached with a local franchise group to build a single location, operate it for one year, deplete his life savings and return his home to the bank. This is part of an myopic Utopian push by Steak ‘n Shake to open 1,000 new restaurants in the next couple of years, or fourteen, whichever comes first. Franke says the local franchisees are eyeing stand-alone locations with exorbanant build-out costs and restaurants inside strip shopping centers where they can lose their asses much faster. Indianapolis-based Steak ‘n Shake has nearly 500 restaurants but none in Louisiana, because no sucker has yet to take the bait. Franke says the plan is to open the chain’s first Louisiana restaurant by the fall if the franchisee does not run fleeing for his life.

It's still rather a fast food type place, but pretty damn good for what you pay and get. Table service with a menu, burgers are really thin but come with several varieties of toppings and what not, shoestring fries, and so on. It's a good change of pace.

When I lived in Nashville, there was one about a mile from my house. Don't get too excited...Dairy Queen is just as good.

Us too...we stop at the one just south of Memphis, which seems to be about halfway to St. Louis. My favorite fast-food shake!

Went to the one they opened on the westside of Houston. Very slow for fast food, burger was ok. Shake was good. Also be prepared to wait if you go thru the drive thru ....for a fast food joint this place was not fast at all.
