Do you remember the "If Pigs could Fly" t-shirts after we kicked Bama's butt that year? Some sportswriter in Moblie, I think, had written an article titled,

"LSU Can Beat Bama Today....Yeah, If Pigs Could Fly"

After the game, some enterprising fellow had t-shirts made with that quote & a flying pig & some other smart-assed shite. I kept that T-shirt for years, but it's gone now.

If I recall correctly, the headline had been, "Tide Could Lose, Pigs Could Fly!" And I believe it was that newspaper that made the t-shirts. I never got one, though.

....I attended LSU in the mid 1980's so it's sports were actually the reverse of what we see today.

Baseball was non-existant. Very few attended the games. When Skip was hired, there was a spark of interest.

Basketball rocked. The PMAC was full and very intimidating. The team was very competitive. It never had a losing SEC record during that decade. It went to two Final Fours.

While I was in school, football experienced a temporary resurgence in the mid 1980's with Bill Arnsparger. It was beginning to return to the crapper the second year into the Archer regime.

Women's basketball was ok. It had winning teams but, not an elite team.

'71-'74. Football was king, won 9 games each year I was there. There were no intertubes to second-guess and analyze every minute particle of the football program, and we were happier then (and most oftentimes, drunk).

Basketball had just seen the end of the Pistol Pete era, and Dale Brown was hired. It was exciting times in the Cow Palace, and then Pete's Palace.

Baseball? That was a club sport back then, I believe.

There weren't any other sports. They hadn't been invented yet. Women had no sports, other than occasionally streaking on the Parade Grounds. I believe this was around the time the high-speed shutter drive for cameras was invented.

I was there fall 91 to winter 96 so obviously I had fun. Football road trips were fun especially Bama in 93. Basketball was an after-thought. And baseball games were fun cause you could sneak in a large daquiri and watch games for free. I was frat, too, so home football games were always fun.

I was there the first time 75-79. It was mediocre at best in football the last years of McClendon. One of those years was terrible. Lost miley to baseball ended up with Billy Broussard and Trimble at quarterback. Basketball was showing some hints of things to come. Rudy Maclin was an underclassman. Baseball didn't exist really. Long, long time ago. I was back on campus for a couple of semesters when I got my masters degree. In falls of 84 and 85. Saw some excellent Football with Arnsparger.

@oldmantig, my years also...Help Mac Pac, Basketball emerging, baseball was a step above a walk on sport, track was an "oh by the way" event.
But at least Basketball broke out before we left. Will never forget the game against Bama in '79, when the SEC Championship Banner was dropped a tad early. First one in 25 yrs. We are the Champions by Queen was blaring over the loudspeakers...including the We Will Rock You prelude...what a mad house.

Basketball was good. Football was ok. Albert Belle lead the baseball team. We lost our wrestling program to make room for more girl sports. Track & Field was decent.

Whoa, now. Dalton and Risher beat Alabama in Birmingham in 1982. The "Pigs Fly " game was in 1993. Article was written by none other than Glen Guilbeau.

Had great years in there for the Big Three. The coverage etc was rather non-existent compared to what we get nowadays but it was a great time to be a Tiger

couple of Sugar Bowls, trips to the Final Four and Elite Eight and a CWS trip or two I think. Baseball was a joke in the mid-80's, I remember going and maybe 100 people were there and NO ONE ever paid to get in at that time

Pretty good. Started in 87, Graduated in 92.

FB started 10-1-1 #5, won SEC the next year, started 89 season in top 10, but went to hell and didn't recover for 6 years.

Basketball made NCAA every year, plus I got to see Chris Jackson's freshman year which was unbelievable. Then Shaq. Also some great opponents including UNLV and Duke in NC years, epic games vs LMU, Texas (in Houston) G Town in the dome.

Baseball was really good. Was for a time the Duke of baseball, always in Omaha, didn't win. Final got thru in 91 in route to dynasty.
It was no where near what it is today in terms of support. I went to the season opener in 89 with McDonald pitching and there was maybe 200 people there. Its come a long way.

69 - 72 Favorite time until the last 8-9 years. Saw some fantastic football. Ole Miss Game, Mississippi put up signs on the state lines to set your clock back several seconds when you entered La. Saw Pistol play.
Fantastic times.

96-01. Right in the middle of Dinardo bringing back the magic, then destroying it, and then Saban saving the day. Baseball won a couple titles in my tenure and basketball was in the middle of Brady's first sweet 16 appearance.

I was at LSU from 88 to 92
Outside of 88 football was brutal but it allowed me to get season tickets after I graduated in north end zone. Also, as a student, I could show up an hour before kickoff and sit in the lowest section.

Basketball was fun, I remember going see CJ before he blew up his fr year during the non conf games and no one was there. Then, of course, Shaq came with marquee non conference games like the Loyola Marymount, campout for Duke game, etc.

Baseball was just starting to get rolling. National title in 91, best regional at old box ever in 90, etc.
