The old days of the early 80's was tough on us trying to follow recruiting. I remember staying up late (for recruiting updates and on signing day) to listen to WWL and a radio station out of Knoxville. I believe it was 1520. They would both fade in and out. Then we went hightech and could call in to TigerRag and get charged to listen to a list of signees. Saturday Mornings had recruiting shows on FoxSportSW, so we could pick up a little info there. The day after signing day we had to run to the one place that sold the Advocate in Lake Chuck to get the first real lowdown. Shuffle your feet and all of the Advocates were gone by 7:30. Then came Don, Dandy Don that is. Love him or hate him.....he was a godsend for recruiting buffs.

Taunting put him there, punting ability kept him there. Otherwise, he would have been but a footnote. No pun intended.
A decent D.A. can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich!!! It means nothing.
I am stuck in this Hotel California Thread...I checked in but can not check out.

Jarrrett Lee...never a quitter

Say what you will, but he is not quitter. He is a gamer. I hope my son has his courage. Heck, I would hope I have his courage!
Saw both play. Manning, he did more with less. He could bulldoze and finesse. He was, by far, a more accurate passer. He elevated his teammates play. He was a smarter QB and it showed in the passing game and the game in general. Remember at that time the communication between bench and QB was limited so the game was in the hands of the player to a large degree. He was level emotionally....calm. The only thing he could not do was to beat us with one arm tied behind his back. He beat perhaps the best team we fielded between our NC yrs.

Oh, and one last thing, he did not cry like a baby at the drop of a hat.
Agree with your comment concerning BP, but what surprised me the most was the outcry of "how can he even consider leaving." Particularly when you consider the brutal and constant bashing he took from "fans" of LSU who considered 10-2 records as failures.

Also surprised he stayed after the total lack of "love and respect" shown for him and his record at LSU.
@oldmantig, my years also...Help Mac Pac, Basketball emerging, baseball was a step above a walk on sport, track was an "oh by the way" event.
But at least Basketball broke out before we left. Will never forget the game against Bama in '79, when the SEC Championship Banner was dropped a tad early. First one in 25 yrs. We are the Champions by Queen was blaring over the loudspeakers...including the We Will Rock You prelude...what a mad house.
Oklahoma or maybe......Tex Tech (a stretch)but the "TCU smiling" comment got me thinking.

Why stop hating them......we just added Kiffin to the list of reasons they should be hated!!!
Does any of this really matter? Offered, not offered!!! To the sport minded public Miles was offered the job. A job he should have wanted but he stayed with the better program. Miles is being talked about in the media like he is a coaching god on Mt. Olympus with the other coaching gods. Seems to me, whether offered of not, LSU is looking pretty good right now. A program too good to leave even to go home to the once elite Michigan. A program that a coach does not leave voluntarily.

Nevis........no way. We won a BCS Championship because of him. Remember, Alexander and Dorsey were hurt. I bet he gladly traded a red shirt year for the BCS Ring and his contribution. Besides....we would never have seen him on the field next year if he had red shirted in 2007...unless we happened to drop in on a Sunday Game.

We played him for half of one game and then limped out a gimpy Dorsey for the rest of the season.

And DT is the one position where people don't leave early as much. Sure he might go but it'd be unreal to have him another year.

Check out his stats....he had a better yr in 07 than 08. So we should have reshirted him in 08?

re: McNeese vs. LSU Maze

I am looking for a 50 pt smack down. Have been hearing for 30 yrs how they could play with us. I am a McNeese fan, attended the first game at the current stadium when I was a kid, but...I am sick of hearing the anti LSU crap being dished out by so many of their supporters. So, I want McNeese to win every game but this one and I hope they drive back to Lake Charles having given up 50 pts for the $500M they get for showing and a big goose egg on their end of the scoreboard. Maybe then I do not have to hear their ignorant rambling on about how LSU is overrated, LSU is scared to play them, LSU buys players, recruits criminals yada yada. Hey, where did Cecil end up before prison????
