An outside linebacker in the first round. This is a must.

a must and historical norm for the Saints is getting excellent value.
A playmaking LB could help out as much a DE but I don't see any fitting valuewise at #24. Martez Wilson would be a little bit of a stretch. He's more a SLB and is the only LB that's looking close to their pick.
I'm not big on spouting draft predictions but Matthews will still be on the board in the 4th Rd. If his name wasn't Matthews and ya didn't see him have a good NCG then you prolly wouldn't know he was even there. Got manhandled and embarrassed at the Senior Bowl. Looks more like a guy who sticks on special teams that might one day grow into a job.

Who do you realistically want the Saints to draft?

A lockdown corner would be wonderful, as well
I see this posted time to time, I'm still working on understanding how this can be even seen. Enlighten me.
Remind me again how Malcom Jenkins & Patrick Robinson are working out at corner again?
Remind me again how healthy or cornerback situations have been the past two seasons?
Thanks, I'll hang up & listen...

You know those patch work units have held their own against some elite competition. We were depleted vs. NE last year and Brady threw 2 ints and 0 TD's. Against PIT this year again banged up yet the Steelers put up only 10 points. You bring up a good point about the CB injury bug but hey this isn't the biggest concern right now IMO.

Lulz at this. Jenkins is our best secondary player right now and does well at corner better at safety. P rob is coming along and will be a great corner/nickel guy. Remember now? Did you only watch the Seattle game?

From the time Jenkins was drafted his future as a safety was talked about. Last year's performance there had many talking him as a soon to be All Pro. Not only did he show he is a solid future there but he still filled in as the nickel guy well when injuries mounted. So CB is not his future but he looks like a solid 1st Rd pick that will lock down the back end for a long time.
Robinson dealt with some injuries but I was well satisfied with what I saw. On a team with pressed circumstances I think he could have easily started. That wasn't needed here. I've seen enough so far to believe he will make it a tough call when it's time for new deals for Greer and Porter.
For Greer last year was the first time he's had injury to slow him. I would say he played through what a lot of guys would have sat out over. His history and performance makes him a write in solid starter, if not potential All Pro.
Porter's skills are unquestioned. The injuries are not so much an issue now but when they come to consider a new deal. A solid injury free year would go a long ways towards that. Another dinged and out a lot year will bring Robinson into the discussion as the guy long term.
So CB stacks up with a 1st Rd pick, a 2nd, and our top free agent signing in the past few years. Ages 23, 24, & 29 I think their best ball is in front of them. I actually think we might have the best group of CBs in the NFL when you weigh all of talent, depth, potential forward, and the contract cost of them.
The pass defense ranked 4th in the NFL, 1st in the NFC. I see very little of that coming from the relentless pressure of the front seven. Their 33 sacks ranked 18th and the pressure was more the result of GW scheming with blitz packages. GW schemes leaves those guys in single coverage prolly as much as any D in the league. That is what made that defensive ranking. I say add a playmaking pass rusher, get the sacks over 40, and GW would not have to blitz as much and when he did it would be even more effective.

Also gotta give Dennis Allen props here as well. I wish him well @ Denver until they play the Saints.

GFunk you're way off on the lockdown corner thing.right now our secondary is the strongest part of this D. I think we need a playmaking LB'r who can rush the passer and drop in coverage.

If it came down to a LB or DE, I'm taking a DE who can rush the passer and play the run, as you can hide deficiencies elsewhere in your defense if you have a stud DE.

I am hoping JJ declared for the draft and we can snag him next year....as for this year it would be nice to get a good dt.
