Payton and Family Are Moving To Dallas Confirmed

DALLAS -- So we've found one man who's willing to battle the elements in our region and make Westlake, Texas, his permanent home. Oh, and Sean Payton's not being hired as the Dallas Cowboys' general manager, although that rumor sure had a ring to it.
The intrepid Ed Werder of ESPN fame, a frequent contributor to this blog, has been focused on the Green Bay Packers the past couple weeks but he found himself breaking some real estate news Monday. The New Orleans Saints put out a press release Sunday night that Payton will remain their head coach, but Werder discovered that he will now commute to New Orleans via private plane.
Rumors began to swirl Sunday evening that Payton might be accepting a front-office position with the Cowboys. And while I'm sure Jerry Jones would've welcomed Payton back into the fold, it's not like he's going to give up his GM title. The Saints head coach will now realize his dream of living in the same neighborhood as the Jonas Brothers.
A lot of us have tried to figure out how to commute to New Orleans from Dallas, but it's a tricky proposition for non-millionaires who are paid by the blog entry.
Let me be the first person to welcome the Paytons back to their heavily guarded home.

I've put in some of the other threads that all should be aware that a coaches family living in a different city than that team is nothing unusual whatsoever.

No matter how you look at it, this isn't good. A huge part of what made the Saints so special in 2009 was how much they represented the city and the bond between the city/region and the coaches/team. I get that its a business and his family wants the best life possible for them, but this move definitely frays the bond between the region and Payton.
I just couldn't see him saying all that he said last year while his family was living in Dallas and he commuted via private plane. Not liking this at all.

Yeah, a city they were already rooted in, with kids who didn't want to leave their schools etc. The didn't move to the coach's new city, only to decide to move out 5 years after being there.

Hopefully he and his wife are cutting ties and they are moving and he is staying

There has to be more to this story.

bad PR move especially considering how many NOLA residents feel about their city, but it doesn't bother me. If Payton refuses to sign any type of extension then I'll begin to grow concerned.

If Payton himself is actually moving from the New Orleans area I see that as a huge slap in the face to the city and people of New Orleans. As close as the team is to the city, as much as he's preached how important the unique bond is between the team and city is, etc, etc this would be a rather shitty move on his part. Frankly, if he doesn't want to be living in NOLA than I just assume he stay in Dallas and find himself a job there. The Saints need somebody fully dedicated to the city and the team.

All I know is we better not see her on top of a float like she was last year when we win the SB again

Wonder what the tab is for a private jet to fly from Dallas to New Orleans and back. Come on Man!!!!!!!

Can't blame him. Vaquero is nice as hell. They don't have places like that in the New Orleans area

If the Saints have a bad year, this will be brought up as a straw stacked on the camels back. Do any other NFL coaches live in a different state than the coach in? And I agree that the travel, loss of family during the season, etc., will probably take a toll.
While it's not a huge deal, it isn't a good sign for the future.

This wont work. No way can Payton put in the time to keep the Saints at a high level. He just lost a lot of respect ,not just from N.O. ,but the state of Louisiana. Only good thing is the Williams situation , he may be the coach in waiting, and would be a good one. Payton needs to straighten this out now. If thier is a way to straighten it out. It sucks.

FWIW, some random internet poster says Payton has NOT bought a house in Vaquero but is RENTING one.
