finally give recognition that LSU is the top CFB program in the country?

That would mean that LSU would have won the BCS NCG in 3 out of 13 years the Crystal Trophy has existed. That is 23%, which is close enough to say that ONE of 120 schools won the Crystal Trophy nearly a QUARTER of the times in the BCS era. More impressively, that would be winning it all 3 out of 9 years for a 33% rate of winning it all.

And if we do win it all in 2011, our roster will be stocked to give it yet another legitimate run in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Most teams do not have a stocked and young roster that sets up for a legit 3 year run at the whole enchilada. Usually there are too many key losses at too many spots on the roster, but this will not be the case for LSU after the 2011 season - much the opposite will be the case, where the follow-on years will be just as strong and arguably stronger of a roster.

I really do think LSU can win it all in 2011. I have only said that twice before, and yes it was before the 2003 and 2007 seasons.

And if we do, wow what an accomplisment that would be. To win it all 3 times with 2 different coaches over a 9 year span of time.

Sure, it is anything but a given that we will do this, but if we do, the narrative from the national media will have to give recognition to the reason why Saban came to LSU in the first place, why he regretted ever leaving, and why CLM has turned down his dream job at his alma mater 2 times now.

LSU has what no other school in the nation can claim. We are THE school in THE state with the best source of NFL-caliber talent per capita (shared with Miss/SC/Alabama, but without sharing with other BCS conference schools within the state), and the proximity to states with a stockpile of talent.

The media will finally see that LSU is THE best Program in the nation. It is not Texas. It is not USC. It is not Bama. It is not Ohio State.

It is LSU.

POST SCRIPT: I realize some do and some do not care what the media says, so this is just for those that do care. As a person who watches tons of commentary about college football, and who wishes for as much of it as possible to reflect positively on LSU, I will be honest and say that I am one of those who do care what the media says/thinks. First of all it is interesting, secondly it can help recruiting and the other things that allow LSU to stay at the top, and thirdly it is very nice for something positive to be stated about the school and the state that I love. That's all. If you TRULY do not care, then it really shouldn't matter to you what folks say on the rant either, so you might want to give pause to whether you really live in a "all i care about is how I feel about LSU" bubble...You may be able to do that, but that does not make your philosophy more admirable than those of us who do care about what the media says.

We are not the best, one of the top ones, but I don't think anyone will ever call LSU the top program in the nation.

How many times do we have to go over this? If LSU wins any championship ever, it will be because of Saban's players.

That would take LSU over the top. Any pundit/sportscaster denying it would lose all cred.
It would run parallel to saying the SEC is mediocre.

The media cares about one thing only. Ratings=money...that's why they will always push Notre Dame (NYC market), USC (LA market), and the Big 10 in general (NE market).

Who cares what the media thinks.

If we win it all next year, I'll just be happy that we won. I won't worry about anything else.

I don't see the point of this thread. I think the media puts LSU as a top 5 program along with USC, Florida, OU, Texas, and maybe OSU which is where we belong.

Florida and USC (sort of) have as many National Titles as LSU). Those other schools have more conference titles than LSU this decade I think.

The media recognizes the SEC as heads and shoulders above the other conferences and LSU as an SEC elite.

They will not give LSU credit and will say that we can ONLY win it IF its played in the Superdome!

can also add that LSU had to do it in the toughest conference in the nation which, if LSU wins, will have won over HALF of the 14 BCS championships. and of that 8 LSU would have 3.

Yall should probably try to string together an undefeated season or two before you start talking greatest program in the country.

Florida won 3 in 12 years between 96 and 08 along with multiple other SEC championships and an undefeated reg season in 09. Not to mention what USC, Ohio State, and Oklahoma have accomplished, eve if they can't match the number of national championships. Even if we win another next year, it would be close as to who was the "top program", which I'm not surely you can ever really figure out. As others have stated, it is better to lump teams together and we would be in the top tier, if we aren't already.

I wouldn't get people's hopes up. Next thing you know we'll be having a screaming hoard of people demanding Les's head on a platter if it doesn't come true. And we already have people that hate him after a 11 - 2 season.

if we win next season, they will just way that we can only win in the Superdome and if we had to go anywhere else, the opposing team would beat us....
