the only point i'm making is we have to trust the coaches evaluation. they hit a home run with ware, t.m, reed, and it appears simon.
Agreed. Between what Wiliford, Mathieu, Mo Claiborne, P.J. Lonergan and Kelvin Sheppard have done compared to how little they were "regarded/ranked", I've learned to give this coaching staff the benifit of the doubt on player evaluations.

I hope Ware is still planning to play baseball this spring. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do on the diamond.

well, based on the information we have, yes. an accurate pass by j.j. in the vandy game and he would have thrown for a t.d., rushed for a t.d. and reived for a t.d. as a true frosh with a all s.e.c. r.b. ahead of him.
i think we have seen ware is the total running back. vision, power, speed, hands, and ability to block.
i realize there is time. however, i think spencer is the total package. a m. ingram type guy. if johnson was this guy, surely he would have shown flashes this year on a miami team that wasn't as good as lsu.

he had 9 carries for a 13 YPC average
Ware couldnt have had more than 20-25 carries i would think

That is not how it happened. People were upset that we didn't take Storm's commitment.
People were OK with it once we got Ware. And then once we saw Ware in the AAA game....we forgot all about Storm.
I don't recall anybody ever being pissed that we passed on Storm for Ware.
It was more like they were pissed because it looked like we were just passing on Storm. Ware hadn't committed yet.

Most people on here did want Storm, but I don't remember anyone questioning why we took Ware.
Exactly.

I really doubt it. Too valuable at football and a load of players in front of him. IMO, I don't think he is going to really see the field at LSU.
Did we ever find out what happened to Marcus Davis?

It's not even close. Ware was a legitimate 5*. The early-season ankle sprain slowed his progress in the game plan quite a bit fwiw. It was bad enough that there was consideration given to a medical rs for a week or two there. Kid's got game and then some.

The Advocate -- Miles Clears Ware to Play Baseball
I wonder if Ware is going to be good enough to earn playing time for Mainieri this year. I feel sure that he has the speed and arm to play the outfield, but it will be interesting to see if he can hit college pitching.
I remember that one of his main reasons for choosing LSU was that he could play both sports, but I don't remember the details on how he was regarded as a baseball recruit. Anyone care to fill me in?

10 receptions in limited action for ware, as well. very good hands.
not that it doesn't count, but johnson's stats were pumped significantly by a 70-yard run against s.florida.

Was curious...here's Storm's stats for 2010...
10 games
9 carries
119 yards
13.2 yds per carry
1 TD
71 yd long run
1 reception for 9 yards
1 assisted tackle
Also had 9 kick returns for 194 yards = 21.5 avg
Ware :
11 Games
24 carries
175 yards
7.3 average
1 TD
26 yd long run
Passing: 1 for 1, 39 yards, 1 TD.
Receiving: 10 rec 101 yds 10.1 avg 29 long
Ware had 2 solo and 1 assisted tackle = 3 total
Not saying one is better than the other...just bored with a foot of snow on the ground outside. I know I'd take Ware over Johnson though. I think he's a better all around player and has great athleticism. Did a standing back flip at the AA game last year. Not a burner but has great lateral movement, balance and exceptional hands. Can't wait to see him get more PT next year.

Both are good backs.I personally like Ware better because he just has those natural running insticnts that aren't taught.Storm could've been good here as well.He has much better speed and is a good runner but it worked out well for us.Ware's ability as a reciever is also very good and i think will pay big dividends down the line.

Well, with a new coach at Miami, I think all comments on Ware > Storm will change drastically. But, I'll let you all wait and see because I already know. Miles did what he thought was best, but Storm will be the MAN.

Looking back, I'm glad LSU didn't take his commitment due to the scholly reduction. That spot can be taken up by much thinner positions(QB, LB) rather than adding another log to the log jam. Do we really want Ware, Ford, Blue, Gore, Hilliard, Hill, Magee, AND STORM?
