Though I agree that addai is faster and a bigger pass threat, I think Ridley is a hybrid between Hester and addai. And you have to be a damn fool to think Ridley couldn't make his draft stock higher by coming back another year. He ran 1k+ yards this year in the SEC, which is a defensive strong conference this year. With Mett possibly starting next year, he will spread the field out with his air time, opening up the middle perfectly for Ridley. If he runs for 1k+ yards in two consecutive seasons in the SEC, he definitely will not be a UFA. He also will be gettin a degree next year if nothing else. No reason to leave just yet IMO

Ridley has one thing hands down that will make him a 4th rounder, anything after that, he is a steal (value pick)

V - I - S - I - O - N

Be can hit the holes, find the seams, good change of direction, HARD runner, and tough!

Emmitt Smith wasn't fast, he was considered slow, but Emitt had superior vision. Emmitt ran more elusive though

Ridley has been a good college running back. Going forward to the NFL, it would not surprise me if he only makes it as a full back. He doesn't have the break away speed. He can run between the tackles, but even in college he doesn't jump off the TV screen when he runs. Ford, in his few carries on the season, had more runs that jumped off the screen at you. Ridey is a Short yardage/Goal line/Full back that is drafted no higher than 6th or 7th round.

If he comes back for his senior year(which is the best thing for him imo), he should strive to loose some weight. Get down to 220, get in better shape, and pick up some speed. He'll have more help next year with the move-the-pile runs with Hilliard coming on board.

It's your vision that is clearly in question.

les, i disagree

i think ridley has a chance to be a really good NFL back. he isnt overly fast or big, but he's fast and big enough. his best attributes are his vision and his cutting ability. he almost always makes he right cut and his subtle twists and turns make him tough to bring down.

i'm not sure where he will be drafted, but i view him as a guy who can do some things in the NFL

ive said before that i think he has a place in the NFL

not as a feature back though

for some reason that makes people mad.

he's exactly what teams look for in a special teamer and a back up RB who can spot start when needed.

Ridley did a great job for us this year, he makes good cuts and has great vision.
I don't think that he'll go above the 3rd of 4th round either, though I do think he is under-appreciated. The guy did beat out some pretty good RB's to become the feature back in our system. Even Addai wasn't handed the ball as much as Ridley was this season.

Yes we have other great backs waiting in the wings and yes we'll probably be fine in the near future, though that should not in any way take anything from Ridley's performance this year. He improved a lot from his sophomore year and may yet develop into a great back in the NFL.

There really aren't that many "big" backs in this years draft.

last year was, and a lot of teams took big backs. 9 or 10 drafted a big back, and another 3-4 added solid big backs in UDFA

It isn't a very good pool of running backs this year.

Mark Ingram is the best, projected as a first rounder. Then Mikel Leshoure and Daniel Thomas, followed by Demarco Murray, in rounds 2-3.

I think Ridley would be right in there with the second group.

Man Emmitt Smith and Ridley don't belong in the same conversation. Stick with Ivory.

Ridley is 6-0, 225 (which is bigger than Addai 5-11, 215 but about the same size as Chris Ivory, who did not get drafted because of an injury history & off-the-field law troubles). Ridley's size and tackle-breaking running style guarantees he will get a chance to play on Sundays.

Now, pretend Ridley runs a legit 4.4 time, then with his size and elite speed, he could go as high as late in the first round.

But realistically, I predict 4.62 - 4.67 forty times, (with probably a best time of 4.57) at which point he'll probably go in the 5th round, which is a higher round than a similar prospect last year, MSU's Anthony Dixon, was taken (6th round---Dixon had a DUI).

Make no mistake, Ridley will make someone's team.
