I remember him well. Great Tiger fan, and his "Tiger Bait" chant was >>>> anything chanted at LSU games today.

Great memory as a child. He was bigger than life to me at 8 years old.

In the day when they had freshman games he even went to them and could be heard tigerbaiting. At that time freshmen were not allowed to play in their 1st year,so they played against other freshman teams.

Thanks for bringing up the memories of Big Red. What pipes he had!!! His chanting of "Tiger Bait!" boomed across not only the Assembly Center but Tiger Stadium as well. His voice just carried and I can still hear him chanting that all too familiar cheer.

He was a carrier for the Morning Advocate - I believe he passed in 1997 - his health started to go down in the late 80's.

I also remember him at Alex Box with less than 200 fans in the stands, standing up.... "Tiger Bating" the opponent. He would almost get into a trance and get beet red in the face. He was a great guy and sorely missed. The man loved LSU.

I believe "Tiger Bait" started when Florida began to use...."Gator Bait" as I recall..

In 1981 in the basketball Midwest Regional final against Wichita State was the first time I remember him. We got there very early and I can remember his "Tiger Bait", "Tiger Bait" echoing throughout the SUPERDOME! A true LSU legend

One day in 1975 during practice coach Mac pulled us together and BIG RED was outside the fence at the practice fields doing his entire routine.

I will never forget the chills listening to him bellow TIGER BAIT for us. He was an incredible fan. It was an awesome moment.

NOPE. "Tiger Bait" was used long before the lizards started their lizard bait chant.

He would sit in his season ticket seat for the spring games and rock the house with his cheers. Who that ever heard him could forget that voice. He could have been one heck of a drill sargent.

I remember Big Red chanting "Ole Miss Rejects, Ole Miss Rejects, as Moo State players ran onto the PMAC floor. He was a memorable character that always had an ear to ear smile when he finished his chant.

I sat next to him once in the Pmac. I was surprised how calculating he was. He told me it was important to pick the right times. sometimes it was to get the crowd going, sometimes to irritate the opposition, but never ever wear out my welcome by annoying our own fans. To Big Red

A whole game next to Big Red. What a treat. In my opinion, he could have bellowed out many more and NEVER annoyed me. To Big Red

Jim Smith, BB coach, once said we were so bad that "he couldn't even get Big Red to come see us"..No doubt he was a fixture and part of the lore of Tiger Stadium and all Tiger sports.

True. "Tiger Bait" long preceded Florida's use of "Gator Bait." It was in use at least as far back as the 1960s, when I went to my first game.

I still recall hearing Big Red's booming voice when I was in college. It was truly remarkable and one of the great memories of being in Tiger Stadium.

BIG RED HAD PIPES THAT BLASTED OUT SERIOUS DECIBELS.

His voice boomed over the PMAC and then circled around and echoed. He routinely would go on for five or ten minutes and more would add their voices and it would get awesome.

In Tiger Stadium, it wasn't as intense but it was heard and every one knew it was Big Red.

LOVE ME SOME BIG RED!!!
