Gumbo: Dempseys Chicken Sausage/Capital City Grill Chicken Sausage

Ettouffee: Not sure on a restrnt with any good ones

Boudin: Your gonna need to drive to Bourque's in Port Barre (off Hwy 190).....about 45 min from BR, get some cold boudin from the back meat counter, grill it yourself. Its worth it, trust me.

Louisiana Food:

'Nicer' Dining: Roberto's, Louisiana Laginappe, Mansur's, French Market Bistro
Poboy: Tommy's Seafood
'Casual' Dining: Sammy's, Chimes

Don's Seafood has great seafood gumbo and ettouffee. The one on Airline only. Not Cabelas. They sell them by the gallon or of course dine in which the op didn't specify.

Cracklin from Ronnie's on Florida Blvd. He has great boudin as well. Not real good head cheese.

I like Bourque's as well and of course always get the bread.

Gumbo - Roberto's

Etouffe` - Roberto's

Boudin - Don's in Scott. Should be on your way home.

Hog head cheese - Jerry Lee's. Decent boudin too. A little too ricey for me but decent.

Honestly I wouldn't waste time with Boudin in Baton Rouge. Just order some from Bourgeois meat market or Don's meat market and have it shipped to your house frozen.

Gumbo - Louisiana Lagniappe. Everything else here is good as well but it's not cheap and it's only open for dinner.

Crawfish Bisque - Ralph and Kacoo's. I wouldn't bother getting anything else here.

A couple other suggestions for things to try in Baton Rouge:

The shrimp burger at Mason's
Charbroiled Oysters with crabmeat at Mansur's (this is another pricy place) I hear the Cedar Plank Redfish dish there is really good as well.

Incorrect. WV fan living in BR.

As for boudin, the boudins at Ronnie's and Jerry Lee's aren't bad. Certainly not the best, but a decent product, and pretty good, IMO. I like duck/sausage gumbo and the etouffee at The Chimes (those are the only 2 things I like there.) Best etouffee is at Robin's in Henderson, not sure if they're still open though.

Well OK. But you are still suspect in my view until your pedigree is examined.

This is total BS, go to Ronnie's on Florida Blvd and get the smoked boudin and cracklin. They serve pretty damn good plate lunches too. Jerry Lee's has good head cheese and their boudin is pretty good too (i agree with poche, too much rice for my tastes)
